Fans have unearthed previously unknown gameplay scenes from the discontinued Star Wars: 1313. In the video, Boba Fett makes his way through Coruscant.

The Book of Boba Fett is currently running on Disney Plus and the fifth episode at the latest is probably thrilling many Star Wars fans again. And ever since The Mandalorian, I’m sure some people have been asking themselves: Why isn’t there a game where we can wear Beskar armour and go on a bounty hunt ourselves?

The answer to that question is Star Wars 1313. In the discontinued project, we would have been fan-favourite Boba Fett chasing down missions in the underworld of Coruscant. Now a video has surfaced that once again shows what we actually missed out on.

What can you see in the video?

We want to briefly summarise what the approximately three-minute video shows. But if you want to admire the gameplay for yourself without further ado, you shouldn’t have to wait any longer:

After Star Wars 1313 was initially supposed to have a previously unknown protagonist, it was later decided that players should take on the role of Boba Fett. The latter is also shown in the video, which is divided into two parts.

First, we see the protagonist Boba Fett strolling through an already largely completed environment in the undercity of Coruscant. The atmosphere of a busy and at the same time shady sci-fi city seems to have been captured well here with a lot of NPCs and background noises. Only the many different creatures of the Star Wars universe could be missed here, but what was shown was hardly already a final version of the scene.

In the second, much longer section, our bounty hunter chases after two people, repeatedly having to overcome various obstacles and trenches and sometimes even climb. The course-heavy scene ends with Boba Fett getting hold of his target. The environments here are for demonstration purposes only and are clearly not finished.

Nevertheless, the video demonstrates well how the Star Wars shooter could have played. And for me at least, it really makes me want more, which makes the premature end of Star Wars: 1313 all the sadder.

What was Star Wars: 1313?

The Star Wars game was named after level 1313 of the city planet Coruscant. This is located quite far underground in the city and is also part of the local underworld. There is little sign of law and order here, which is why bounty hunters and criminals are up to their mischief here.

Star Wars: 1313 was supposed to be a third-person shooter in which we played a bounty hunter in keeping with the underworld setting. Initially, this was to be an unknown character, as also shown in the Gamescom trailer from 2012:

Later, it was decided to replace him with Boba Fett relatively early in the game. The story of the single-player game was apparently supposed to revolve around the unmasking of a criminal conspiracy. With its dark setting, Star Wars: 1313 was aimed primarily at adults. Besides shooter action, parkour and climbing sequences were also supposed to be part of 1313, as we can see in the new gameplay.

Unfortunately, however, nothing came of all this: after Disney took over the Star Wars franchise, the studio responsible, LucasArts, was closed down. Concepts from Star Wars: 1313 were used by EA studio Visceral for another planned Star Wars game, which never saw the light of day. One could almost think that the double 13 really brought bad luck to the game.
