On Friday afternoon, Paramount Pictures announced Sonic the Hedgehog 3. The clip released teases a central character from the video game series

A big reunion at the end of the year! As Paramount Pictures announced on Friday afternoon, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 will be released in cinemas on December 20, 2024. A first image already shows that Jim Carrey will be returning to his role of Doctor Eggman. He seems to have a special guest with him.

Because the colors in the announcement teaser hint at an appearance by Shadow the Hedgehog . The hedgehog is the Robotnik family’s “ultimate weapon”, which is later unleashed by Doctor Eggman with the aim of world domination. Although Shadow is generally regarded as Sonic’s rival, he helps out his blue counterpart in tricky situations.
We’ll probably find out how the anti-hero will be introduced in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 later this year

As Variety reports, the two previous films about the video game hero generated box office takings of 870.8 million US dollars. Paramount was therefore particularly enthusiastic about the production of Sonic the Hedgehog 3. They are also working on a spin-off series about Knuckles, which is to be released exclusively on Paramount+. This could indicate that the tough hero will no longer be seen in the film
