Like every week, the Epic Games Store is giving away a game. This time, it’s a title with 97 percent positive Steam ratings.

The week is almost over again, which means it’s time for the latest free game from Epic. This time, only one title is being given away, but it has outstanding Steam ratings. The approximately 450 reviews of The Spirit and the Mouse are 97 percent positive. But what is this mouse adventure about?

Heroic Rodent

(Genre:Adventure – Release:September 2022 – Developer:Alblune)

(Play for free )

In The Spirit and the Mouse, you play as Lila the mouse, who befriends Lumion, a ghostly guardian, after a thunderstorm. With him, she explores a small French town and helps the residents bring the light back into their homes, which went out during the storm.

Thanks to her ghostly friend, Lila can use electrical powers and unlock new abilities as she progresses through the game to help her on her quest. However, you also have to look around you carefully, collect important items, and communicate with electrical ghosts that are lurking in the city.

On Steam, the reviews of the game mainly praise the cozy atmosphere in the small town, as well as the heartwarming story, the minigames, and the puzzles. For example, Cuppy writes:

I really love this game. Playing as a cute little mouse running around helping people, collecting items and making friends with ghosts is a great experience. The music and graphics are also excellent. But they really got me with the squeal button! Simply adorable.

If you want to try The Spirit and the Mouse for yourself, you won’t need much time: according to the developers, you can play through the game in about 4 to 6 hours.

By the way, it seems that the developers behind the adventure have a soft spot for little rodents. Their next game, Squeakross: Home Squeak Home, is also all about mice and rats. Here you get to solve puzzles and in return you get new pieces of furniture and decorations that you can place in your pet’s home.
