Jagex’s crafting spin-off will exit Early Access in September 2026 and make its console debut. Physical editions will follow later.
Jagex announced this afternoon that the open-world survival crafting title RuneScape: Dragonwilds will be available on Xbox Game Pass right at launch.
Release Date, Console Launch, and Physical Editions
Version 1.0 of the game will be released on September 15, 2026, marking its debut on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2. On the Sony console, the title will be available through PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium.
Meanwhile, standard and deluxe physical editions will be released a bit later; they are planned for Xbox Series X and PS5 and are scheduled to hit the market in the fourth quarter of 2026.
Dragonwilds is based on the world of the RuneScape MMO but is a standalone title that you can play alone or in co-op mode with up to four players.
Game World, Variety of Enemies, and Early Access Phase
The game takes you to Ashenfall: “This continent in Gielinor has been completely unexplored until now,” the description states. “You’ll explore the many diverse and wondrous regions of Ashenfall. Along the way, you must uncover the source of a wild, transformative magic that is spreading across the ravaged land.”
“The landscape is teeming with Anima. Use this energy to cast powerful spells in battle. Harness the magic to mine resources, craft gear, build shelters, and ensure your survival. Wild dragons lurk around every corner. You’ll need to level up your skills, brew potions, and forge better gear. That’s how you’ll fight your way, step by step, all the way to the Dragon Queen herself.“
Among other things, you’ll complete quests in the game and take on dragons and other familiar RuneScape creatures like the Zogres—while also facing entirely new enemies such as the fearsome Garou.
Until the release of Version 1.0, you can continue to play RuneScape: Dragonwilds in Early Access. This version is available on Steam, the Jagex Launcher, and the Epic Games Store.
