Losing a game save that took dozens of hours to complete hurts like hell. But at least one player’s pain was eased in an extraordinary way.

In games, an awkward death, a wrong decision, or an annoying bug is one thing, but losing all our progress is a whole other level of annoyance.

That’s exactly what happened to one player, albeit with his fiancée’s game save, which he accidentally deleted. All her progress in Red Dead Redemption 2 is now gone, but at least there was a very special compensation.

Words of comfort from Arthur

Arthur Morgan, the main character in Red Dead Redemption 2, has grown dear to the hearts of many players. The gruff outlaw may take a little getting used to, but he increasingly reveals himself to be a fascinating character.

This makes it all the more frustrating when you suddenly have to start his tragic story all over again. This is also known to the unknown, remorseful culprit who writes to Arthur’s actor, Roger Clark:

I just accidentally deleted my fiancée’s save game in Red Dead Redemption 2. She was having so much fun and made every morally correct decision. She had completed two-thirds of the game. Can you send her some words of support after this loss and let her know that I’m sorry?

Arthur’s actor, Roger Clark, clearly understands this too. He was sent this request on Cameo, a platform where you can ask famous people for short video greetings for a variety of occasions.  On Twitter, he says about it:

I always enjoy the shout outs, but it’s ones like this that I live for. Let’s all send this poor woman some positive vibes. At least her husband knows what he did.

We hope, of course, that Roger Clark’s words are at least some small consolation for the poor player. After all, you can sink well over 100 hours into Red Dead Redemption 2 if you put enough time into side quests and exploration. So the loss is likely to be quite severe. I would probably be inconsolable in such a case, how would you feel about it?
