The PlayStation Network is currently offline, neither login nor playing is possible. We collect all information about the problems – and the funniest reactions.

Update from October 1, 2024, 2:42 pm: The afternoon is approaching, time for a look at the current situation. According to Sony’s own status page, almost all PSN services are now back online.

Almost, because of all things , there are still problems with games and social networks So if you can’t start your favorite game or keep getting kicked out, it’s probably because of this and it may take some time before Sony has completely eliminated the problems.

Original report: There are massive problems with Sony’s PlayStation Network right now. Almost all services have been offline for hours: games, account management, the PlayStation store and PlayStation Video are affected. You can neither log in nor play online titles that require PSN.

The disruption seems to be affecting users worldwide, as a glance at Reddit and other sites reveals. So far, the reason is not yet known, nor is it known when the PSN will be back to normal. You can see the current state of the servers here on the Sony website: This link will take you to the official overview

Of course, the internet’s reaction to the outage is with the international language… Memes

What the community is saying about the server problems

On Reddit, the desperation of the players is palpable. User Blix, for example, asks:

What the hell am I supposed to do now? Go outside?!

But it doesn’t have to come to that, another user answers with the saving idea:

PlayStation 2 still works!

Maybe it’s time for a revival of the first Kingdom Hearts or GTA 3? At least one person can be really happy about the outage. FiyaStarter was in the middle of losing a match spectacularly:

And hey, at least you’re not alone in this!

However, many are also understandably seriously annoyed about not having access to their purchased games – which, strictly speaking, are not their property, as has just been legally established One of the major concerns of many critics of the PSN tie-in has thus materialized. Among others, streamer King AL also criticizes the lack of communication:

I’m annoyed that the PSN is down, but what really makes me angry is the fact that [Sony] still hasn’t addressed this publicly here. (…)

At this point in time, we can only find one official statement on the Japanese support account of Sony at X. No reason or time frame has yet been given there either.

In recent months, the PSN has made itself anything but popular in parts of the community. For example, when Sony announced that you now needed a PSN account on PC to play Helldivers 2. The shooter launched without this requirement. After loud protests from the community, this decision was reversed, not least because the PSN is not even available in many countries.

However, Helldivers 2 was probably not a turning point, a PSN account is now also required for the single-player game God of War: Ragnarök on PC. It is therefore not surprising that the current problems are attracting so much attention in the irritated community.
