In a complete surprise and after five years of silence, Paradox has announced a final DLC for its big mafia strategy game – here’s everything we know about the announcement.
In a completely surprising move, Paradox Interactive has announced the last DLC for the mafia strategy game Empire of Sin, which had long been thought lost. Five years after the original release and the cancellation of major post-launch plans, the promised content expansion is finally coming with The Hunt for Aurora
It will be released next week, on June 24, 2025, for all owners of the main game.
An unexpected comeback
Information about “The Hunt for Aurora” is currently very scarce. The title itself may hint at a story-driven hunt for a mysterious person, which could indicate a new campaign or a series of quests for the sandbox mode. However, this has not been officially confirmed.
Apart from the name and release date, there are no concrete details about new game mechanics, characters, or even a revamp of existing systems. So, the crucial questions remain unanswered for now.
The announcement is still causing quite a stir on the Paradox forum, precisely because Empire of Sinhas had an eventful past
The strategy game developed by John Romero and his team launched in 2020 with big ambitions, but was met with mixed reviews and technical difficulties. The extensive post-launch content originally planned, for which there was even an expansion pass, was ultimately canceled.
After the last major expansion, “Make It Count,” in 2021, things went quiet around the Mafia XCOM. It was widely considered finished, and the developers at Romero Games turned their attention to new projects. The fact that Paradox is now, five years later, delivering a final chapter is definitely one of the biggest surprises of the gaming year so far. So if, after all these years, you feel like revisiting 1920s Chicago, it’s worth keeping a close eye on Paradox’s official channels over the next few days. By the time it is released on June 24, at the latest, we will see what the expansion really has to offer and whether there is more in store for you than just a small farewell gift.
