Highlight of the week: Slay the Spire 2

(Genre: Roguelite deck builder – Developer: Mega Crit – Release: March 5, 2026 (Steam/Early Access)

Almost single-handedly, its predecessor defined the roguelite deckbuilder genre, captivating millions of players. With a Steam user rating of 97 percent from around 180,000 reviews, it is one of the highest-rated games of all time.

We are, of course, talking about Slay the Spire! Now, in Slay the Spire 2, you can finally venture back into the tower, which, according to developer Mega Crit, has been completely rebuilt using the Godot engine, conjuring up fantastic new animations and extensive mod support on screen.

When you load the character selection screen, you’ll encounter old fan favorites  such as the Ironclad, the Silent, and the Defect, but with revamped maps and fresh builds.

But completely new classes such as the mysterious Necrobinder are also shaking things up. This class brings an undead skeleton hand into battle, which has its own health points, attacks independently of you, and can intercept deadly hits for you.

The basic gameplay principle remains true to the recipe for success, but is greatly expanded with new synergies and dangers. Enemies can now place nasty curses on your cards that trigger negative effects every time they are played, while hidden quests allow you to unlock permanent enchantments for your deck.

One of the biggest and most exciting new features is the brand-new co-op mode strong>for up to four players. You no longer have to face ruthless elite enemies alone, but can team up with your friends, use crazy synergies, and craft the perfect build to conquer the top of the tower.
