Edward Kenway and the Jackdaw are setting sail once again: AC Black Flag Resynced is the highlight of a jam-packed week on Steam.

This week, half the gaming world is looking back to the Caribbean: WithAssassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, the very installment in the series that many of you still consider the best is getting a complete remake.

And there’s plenty going on around it. No sooner does the Summer Sale end on Thursday than the major publishers are back with full-price titles: from Palworld’s big 1.0 update to college football to the cozy Cat Post Office. As we do every Monday, we’ve rounded up all the important releases for you.

The highlight of the week: Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced

Genre: Action-Adventure – Developer: Ubisoft – Release Date: July 9, 2026 (Steam)

For many of you, Black Flag is still the best Assassin’s Creed game ever: the one with the pirates, the open Caribbean, and the Jackdaw—the one that made you happily ignore every main quest marker. Ubisoft is now bringing back this very game—not as a quickly polished remaster, but as a full-fledged remake.

You’ll once again sail as the pirate Edward Kenway through the Golden Age of Piracy, engage in naval battles, board enemy ships, sneak through crowds on land, and go on treasure hunts, all while a sea shanty plays in the background.

Technically, Resynced has been rebuilt from the ground up using the latest Anvil engine—the same technology behindAssassin’s Creed Shadows. Nothing remains of the original code. This delivers new graphics featuring ray tracing and dynamic weather, a revamped combat system, improved parkour, and—finally—less frustrating chase missions. Added to this are new story content centered on Blackbeard and Stede Bonnet, three new officers for your crew, and newly recorded scenes featuring original voice actor Matt Ryan.

Ubisoft explicitly calls this a faithful remake, not a remaster. However, multiplayer and the original’s “Freedom Cry” DLC are not included. At launch, the title is Steam Deck-verified and uses Denuvo for copy protection. Find out soon in our review whether the return to the Caribbean is worth it.
