Highlight of the week: Europa Universalis V
(Genre: Grand Strategy – Developer: Paradox Interactive – Release: November 4, 2025 (Steam)
The long-awaited fifth installment of the series is finally here after more than a decade of waiting. Paradox Interactive is bringing back its global strategy game Europa Universalis after 12 years, giving you another chance to lead a country through world history. As usual, you control the fate of your nation on a huge world map – from politics and trade to wars.
However, this time around, you can expect much more than just an update: A completely new population system simulates the population of your empire in detail. Each population group has its own needs, religion, and culture and has a noticeable influence on your nation. Many of the formerly abstract mechanics (such as the mana system often criticized in Part 4) have been abolished to make way for more realistic development.
Another new feature is so-called situations: dynamic events and crises based on real historical events. These challenges—such as revolutions, economic crises, or religious conflicts—occur contextually and require you to make difficult decisions. The AI has also been significantly improved and responds more intelligently to your actions, making diplomacy, alliances, and hostilities more credible.
The campaign spans 500 years, from 1337 to 1837. You start at the beginning of the Hundred Years’ War and experience the course of history up to the early modern era. The game places great emphasis on historical authenticity, but still gives you the freedom to create alternative historical scenarios.
But beware! The grand strategy game is still plagued by countless bugs at release and is far from being in a releasable state. Before you take the plunge, do yourself a favor and watch our embedded video above or read our review!

- Tavern Keeper (Early Access): From the creators of Game Dev Tycoon comes a humorous fantasy business simulation in which you run your own tavern. You serve beer and roast meat to dwarves, elves, mages, and other adventurous guests, steadily expand your tavern, and occasionally keep a few rowdy orcs in check.

- 7 Days Blood Moons (Early Access): This co-op horror game features an exciting 4v1 concept. Four survivors team up to withstand endless hordes of zombies for seven in-game days – but a fifth player takes control of the undead as the Zombie Master. As survivors, you must expand your base, set traps, and gather resources, while the Zombie Master directs the hordes and can even transform into powerful special zombies.
- Generation Exile (Early Access): A mix of sci-fi building game and turn-based strategy game awaits you here. As humanity’s last hope, you manage a gigantic spaceship ark on which the remnants of civilization are attempting a new beginning. You build modules and supply facilities on board, take care of your colonists’ needs, and navigate the ship through the galaxy in search of a new home. Each round, you must make decisions—from political conflicts on board to external threats in space—and thus determine the fate of the last humans.
- Football Manager 26: The soccer manager series is back after a year’s hiatus. Football Manager 26 now runs on the Unity engine for the first time and offers a significantly improved 3D match day: thanks to the new match engine, your matches are more realistic than ever, and new tactical options open up a whole range of new strategies for the first time. Unfortunately, in our opinion, developer Sports Interactive has not done a good job with the user interface!

- Sonic Rumble: Pure chaos in the Sonic universe! In this fast-paced multiplayer action game, up to 32 players compete against each other simultaneously. Dr. Eggman has created a diabolical toy world in which you race through colorful arenas with Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and friends. Jump, dash, slow down opponents with power-ups… Sonic Rumble feels like a mix of classic platformer and battle royale. Thanks to numerous unlockable skins, emotes, and gadgets, you can customize your character while fighting for victory in turbulent matches.
- Strange Seed: This evolutionary adventure lets you create your own creature and continuously develop it. Strange Seed is reminiscent of the creature phase in Spore, but reimagines the concept as an action-packed 3D role-playing game. You start out as a simple, slimy creature and explore a colorful world full of other creatures. By eating, fighting, and gaining experience, you unlock new body parts and abilities and adapt your creature to ever-changing environments.
- Bloodgrounds (Early Access): Turn-based strategy meets roguelite. As an exiled noble, you assemble a band of gladiators in Bloodgrounds to take revenge on the tyrannical emperor. In tactical, turn-based arena battles, you use your fighters’ individual abilities – from sword strikes to fire spells – and must plan wisely, as every mistake can mean permanent death for a character. Between battles, you build your own city: new buildings unlock better equipment, training opportunities, and even divine blessings to help you in your next fight.

- Long Drive North: Co-Op RV Simulator (Early Access): A wacky co-op road trip adventure awaits you in Long Drive North. Together with up to three friends, you climb into a rickety RV and set off on an endless journey through a post-apocalyptic wasteland in the far north. Along the way, you’ll need to find gas, search for spare parts, and fix breakdowns—preferably before the next snowstorm or a mysterious highway bandit catches up with you.
- UNBEATABLE: Music is illegal in this stylish futuristic world, but that doesn’t stop you from stepping into the shoes of Beat, a rebellious young musician. Unbeatable combines rhythm gameplay with adventure: you explore hand-drawn anime cities and landscapes, interact with band members and fans, and battle to the beat of the music.
- Whiskerwood (Early Access): A cute mouse city-building game with unexpected seriousness: In Whiskerwood, you establish an underground settlement for your mouse colony, which is under the tyrannical rule of a powerful cat. As the leader of the mice, you eagerly gather resources, build tiny houses and workshops, and provide food—always worried about being discovered by the domineering cat. You must plan cleverly, breed and train your mice, and perhaps even secretly develop weapons. The goal is to build a thriving hidden village and eventually become strong enough to turn the tables.
- The Last Caretaker (Early Access): Here, you control a lonely high-tech ship across an endless ocean populated by scattered islands and dangerous machine creatures. From a first-person perspective, you explore the decaying remains of civilization, gather resources, and craft equipment to survive the next storm unscathed. Your mission: to uncover the mystery of humanity’s downfall and perhaps lay the foundation for a new beginning.
- My Little Puppy: Get your tissues ready, dog lovers: My Little Puppy is an adventure that will tug at your heartstrings. You’ll experience the story of Bong-gu, a corgi who, after a fulfilling dog’s life, has crossed the rainbow bridge and is waiting for his beloved owner in dog heaven. One day, when Bong-gu catches a familiar scent, he plucks up his courage and breaks out of paradise to find his human again. On his journey through enchantingly designed landscapes, you’ll have to solve puzzles, master minor action sequences, and help many other lost souls (both dogs and humans).
