The highlight of the week: Forza Horizon 6

(Genre: Racing game –Developer: Playground Games –Release: May 19, 2026 (Steam)

For years, fans have been hoping that Forza Horizon would make its way to Japan—now that dream is becoming a reality. InForza Horizon 6you’ll race through Tokyo, mountain roads, rural areas, and snow-covered mountains.

At its core, it’s still Forza Horizon, of course:You collect cars, participate in races, drift through tight corners, explore the open world, and work your way through a campaign that constantly throws new tasks, events, and rewards in your lap. Over 600 vehicles are included, from the humble Golf to completely absurd dream cars.

The new structure is particularly exciting:In addition to classic races, your progress this time will be driven more by various collection and discovery systems. You’ll earn wristbands, collect stamps, fill your journal, and snap photos of landmarks. So if you love Forza Horizon primarily as a laid-back “I’ll just drive aimlessly through a cool open world for three hours” game, you’ll likely be in good hands here.

For PC gamers, the package also looks solid:Ray tracing, ultrawide support, cross-save, and Steam Deck Verified status are on the feature list. But whether the Japan tour is really as strong as it sounds on paper, we’ll cover in detail in our review:

More exciting Steam releases of the week

Monday, May 18

  • Thrifty Business: In this cozy simulation, you open your own 90s-style secondhand store. You rummage through boxes, decorate your shop, and try to turn a bunch of old junk into a thriving business.

  • Modern Naval Warfare(Early Access): Things get much more serious here, as this simulation puts you in command of a modern Virginia-class nuclear submarine. You’ll work with sonar, radar, torpedoes, and all sorts of complex systems while keeping your cool in a pretty uncompromising military simulation.

  • Corsairs – Battle of the Caribbean: We’re staying on the high seas: This strategy remake from Microprose lets you command fleets, board ships, expand ports, and play campaigns for multiple nations.

Tuesday, May 19

  • Project: Mist (Early Access): This open-world survival horror game sends you to a mysterious island where gigantic monsters roam. You build bases, craft weapons, set traps, and can also battle your way through this dangerous world in online co-op.

Wednesday, May 20

  • Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core(Early Access): Rock and Stone! The space dwarves are back, but this time as a co-op roguelite. You start with basic gear, collect increasingly powerful upgrades during the mission, and fight your way through mining facilities full of alien scum.

  • Thick As Thieves: A new stealth heist game from the veterans behind Thief and Deus Ex is definitely something to look forward to. In a fictional metropolis of the 1910s, you’ll sneak, steal, and improvise your way through heists—solo or together in co-op.

  • Phonopolis: Amanita Design, known for adventures like Machinarium and Samorost, delivers a handcrafted puzzle adventure set in a cardboard world. You play as Felix, who stands up against an authoritarian regime and fights his way through the city using puzzles, speakers, and—once again—a very unique visual style.

Thursday, May 21

  • ZERO PARADES: For Dead Spies: ZA/UM, the studio behind Disco Elysium, is back with a spy RPG. Instead of detective work, this time it’s all about secret missions, political tension, and, of course, plenty of conversations.

  • Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus 2: Tactics fans are getting new content from the 40K universe this week. This time, you’ll take control not only of the Adeptus Mechanicus but also the Necrons, battling in turn-based combat for control of an entire planet.

    • Coffee Talk Tokyo: If, after all the war, horror, and gunfire, you’d prefer something a bit more laid-back, here’s a cozy visual novel set in a night café in Tokyo. You serve coffee, listen to people and yōkai, and influence their stories through your conversations.

    Friday, May 22

    • LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight: Batman gets a new LEGO adventure featuring an open-world Gotham, the Batmobile, detective work, and plenty of villains—all in classic LEGO style, but this time apparently with more freedom than before.

    • Beyond Enemy Lines – Vietnam (Early Access): This tactical shooter takes you to the Vietnam War and lets you tackle missions in different ways. You can sneak, set up ambushes, use vehicles, or fight your way straight through enemy lines.

    • Bubsy 4D: Yes, Bubsy is really back. One of the most hated protagonists in gaming history is getting a new 3D platformer where you jump, glide, and roll across alien planets while collecting tons of yarn.

Feel free to let us know in the comments which game is landing on your wishlist this week—and whether your bank account is already panicking at the sight of Batman, Warhammer, and Forza. And if this week alone isn’t enough for you: In the video embedded above, you’ll also find the complete monthly overview with all the major game releases in May—there’s still plenty to come!
