Yooka Laylee was one thing above all else in 2017: disappointing. The 3D platformer from former Rare developers had a lot of ambition, but got bogged down in just as many details. After the significantly better spin-off Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair, the studio Playtonic wants to give its debut work another shot.

Yooka Re-Playlee was released on October 9, 2025, for PC, PS5, Xbox Series, and Switch 2, and aims to make us forget the many mistakes of the past. Although the remaster is essentially based on the same levels and follows the same idea, it is, unlike the original, an absolute masterpiece.

Playtonic has fundamentally revamped the platformer, turning the ugly duckling into a true swan.
