Asus is preparing a new BTF motherboard that moves the connectors to the rear. Hopes are rising for an early release.

Do you remember the BTF motherboards? Asus launched this brand around two years ago to put an end to cable clutter once and for all. Most of the motherboard’s connections are moved to the rear so that everything looks nice and tidy when you look inside the computer.

However, this has not become a major trend so far. Only a few models on the market are equipped with this feature – regardless of whether you’re looking for Asus BTF, MSI “Project Zero” or Gigabyte “Stealth”. However, Asus is not letting itself be deterred and has now announced the next BTF model, which, as the B850 version, is the first motherboard of its kind for the current AMD chipset.

Specifically, it’s the model called TUF Gaming B850-BTF WiFi W. The motherboard has been hinted at several times in recent months, so much so that questions have been raised on Reddit as to whether the product will ever be released.

The recent announcement on Asus’ X account also gives no indication of a specific release date; nor is the price mentioned. Instead, the post states that interested parties can take a closer look at the motherboard at Computex 2025.

At least the first retailers in Germany are listing the TUF Gaming B850-BTF WiFi W in their online shops, although prices vary widely from $260 to $350, as do delivery times, which range from the end of May to the end of November.

Apart from that, Asus is using the recent Computex announcement to finally fill the official website with all the specific details of the TUF Gaming B850-BTF WiFi W.

The B850 chipset, which was released this year, serves as the basis for the new AM5 motherboard, so Asus also considers it ideal for the current Ryzen 9000 processors; Ryzen 7000 and 8000 are also compatible.

The system can accommodate up to four DDR5 memory modules with a capacity of 64 GB each. The maximum possible speed is 8,000 MT/s – naturally with a lower RAM size. AMD Expo and Asus’ in-house “Enhanced Memory Profile” provide support for these transfer rates. The product website lists the following rear connections:

  • 1 x USB-C with 20 Gb/s
  • 3 x USB-A with 10 Gb/s
  • 4 x USB-A with 5 Gb/s
  • 2 x USB-A 2.0
  • 1x DisplayPort and 1x HDMI

The expansion slots on the TUF Gaming B850-BTF WiFi W include one PCIe 5.0 x16, one PCIe 4.0 x16 and one PCIe 4.0 x1 slot. For hard drives, Asus offers a choice of three M.2 ports – one of which is PCIe 5.0 compatible – and four classic SATA III ports.
