Developer Crytek presents its roadmap for the coming year, and players are loving it.
In a blog post, Crytek not only looks back on the past year of Hunt: Showdown 1896, but also looks ahead to the future. The roadmap for 2026 is packed with new ideas and changes, even if the developers aren’t going into too much detail yet. Nevertheless, players like it.
Hunt: Showdown 1896 – Roadmap 2026
In fact, the first items on the roadmap are expected to arrive this year, but most of the new content will not be added to the game until 2026.

Still planned for 2025:
- Story Challenges
- Update 2.6 with new event
- New ways to combine tools and consumables for more variety in loadouts
Content for 2026:
- Return of the Wildcard: Inferno
- Tier 3 Hunters are also making a comeback
- New and longer season model linked to an event
- More players per match
- Anti-cheat improvements
- Return of the Bileweavers from Web of the Empress
In addition, matchmaking is set to become fairer, new social features will be added, and the options for creating loadouts will be expanded with new systems.
What the players say
As in this Reddit thread, players are very happy with the upcoming content. However, one point is causing some skepticism.
While FruityPoopLoops considers increasing the number of players to be the best way to announce the roadmap, others such as Dokard that Hunt could potentially lose tactical depth as a result.
The return of Tier 3 hunters makes players like ambidexmed ”quite happy“ and the story challenges can be found, for example, at theMARxLENin very interesting.
In the blog post, developer Crytek does not go into much detail about what exactly is behind the individual points. This makes content such as a new season model or a new system for loadouts extremely vague. There is also no rough time frame. After all, update 2.6 should be released within the next few weeks and keep players happy until next year.
