Pathfinder 2nd Edition is currently on offer. You get the complete rulebook and several adventures, so you can get started without any prior knowledge

Pathfinder 2nd Edition is currently very cheap at Humble: You can grab the complete rulebook for 37 euros or choose one of the even cheaper bundles. We explain exactly what you get for your money and who the pen & paper is particularly suitable for

This is in the Humble Bundle for Pathfinder 2E

Pathfinder 2nd Edition is the current version of an extensive and complex fantasy pen&paper. It is a little similar to Dungeons & Dragons, after all it is also based on its version 3.5.

The current offer includes the complete basic rulebook (even with physical edition on request) as well as a multi-part adventure “Outlaws of Alkenstar”.

Here is an overview of the complete bundle for 37 euros, all in English:

  • Basic rulebook
  • Beginner Box (very practical starting aid for newcomers)
  • Bestiary (creature overview)
  • Game Mastery Guide (for game masters)
  • Advanced Player’s Guide (many new playable races and other options)
  • Lost Omens Impossible Lands (describes a region full of wild magic)
  • Lost Omens World Guide
  • Lost Omens Character Guide
  • Pathfinder One-Shot: Head Shot the Rot (short adventure)
  • Outlaws of Alkenstar 1 – 3 (three-part campaign)
  • Outlaws of Alkenstar Player’s Guide
  • Virtual Tabletop Modules for the Outlaws of Alkenstar Campaign
  • Pathfinder Guns & Gears (digital, rulebook with two new classes Gunslinger and Inventor)
  • Pathfinder Guns & Gears as physical edition

A pretty comprehensive package then! If you’re put off by so much content, we recommend the second smallest bundle for 14 euros instead, which contains rulebooks and three adventures. Or you can test Pathfinder 2E first with the Mini-Bundle for 5 Euro, which only contains the Beginner Box and three adventures

Attention: If you choose the complete bundle and want the physical book, please note the shipping costs! You’ll have to pay them and they’re not exactly cheap

What’s so special about Pathfinder 2E?

Pathfinder 2E is considered to be more beginner-friendly and leaner in terms of rules than the first version of the pen & paper game. Basically, it will look familiar if you know D&D, but there are important differences. Instead of movement, action and bonus action, you have three actions per turn. Critical successes and failures work slightly differently and depend on your skill

Especially for those who find non-magical classes in D&D 5th Edition too boring, Pathfinder 2E should be a good alternative. There are significantly more maneuvers and special abilities, for example with your shield. Overall, there is more choice when customizing your characters and the balancing works surprisingly well.

You may already be familiar with the Pathfinder system from the video games by Owlcat Games: Pathfinder Kingmaker and Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous. However, these are based on the first version. Or have you ever tried the virtual card game Pathfinder Adventures by Obsidian? Let us know if you have!
