Frostpunk turned seven on April 24, 2025, and to celebrate the occasion, developer 11 bit Studios unveiled a complete remake of their brilliant city-building game. The new edition, called Frostpunk 1886, is scheduled for release in 2027, in reference to the year in which the world was surrounded by eternal ice in the story of Frostpunk. Like its successor, the game will switch to Unreal Engine 5, which will finally allow the classic to offer mod support. There is also talk of new game mechanics and content.
