Tekken 8 is a fighting game that is actually celebrated by fans and critics alike. But the mood is currently changing in the Steam reviews

When Tekken 8 was released in January this year, the PC version of the traditional fighting game series received numerous positive reviews and players were also enthusiastic in the Steam reviews. However, the latest update turns out to be a stab in the heart for fans

Tekken 8 piles up negative reviews

While the overall user ratings on Steam are still 80 percent positive, recent reviews only 58 percent of players are satisfied.

What is being criticized? With the last update, Tekken 8 not only got a Battle Pass, but also an in-game store where cosmetic items can be purchased. Both of these are causing a stir

What the players say

Many fans are particularly bothered by the surprise launch of a Battle Pass, which is not even included in the Ultimate Edition of the game  The player Reprint writes: “Paid 110 euros and not even the dirt Battle Pass (which was concealed) is included. Simply laughable. “

LoGicMoTion also criticizes the fact that the Battle Pass was never mentioned in advance: “This game came out in January for 70 euros and no one was told about the Battle Pass or in-game store. “

On the other hand, dlwlrma believes that developer Bandai Namco would be better off addressing the game’s problems instead of banning mods for Tekken 8:

“The game has serious issues that need to be addressed, such as plugging [breaking the game to prevent defeat] and overall balance, but Bamco prefers to take mods out of circulation because it would hurt the store’s sales. “

A really good game

In addition to the good Steam reviews at release, Tekken 8 also enjoyed an average rating of 92 on Metacritic

Bandai Namco has upset many fans with the introduction of the Battle Pass and in-game store in Tekken 8. Do you think that this form of monetization has no place in a full-price fighting game? Should the publisher have informed players about these things in advance? Let us know in the comments.
