The first trailer for Fallout Season 2 was unveiled at Gamescom: We’ll tell you the exact release date and what the journey to New Vegas has in store for you.

Fans have been waiting for this for months: The first trailer for the second season of the hit series Fallout was unveiled tonight at Gamescom Opening Night Live in Cologne. This means we now know when the journey through the wasteland will continue on Prime Video: The start date is December 17, 2025.

The adaptation of Bethesda’s popular video game series is one of the most successful series of the year and has been met with enthusiasm by critics and gamers alike. The new scenes shown during the opening show at the Cologne game fair confirm the direction already set by the finale of the first season.

Where season 2 picks up

The first season ended with a series of dramatic revelations that turned the world of protagonist Lucy MacLean (Ella Purnell) completely upside down. After leaving her safe haven in Vault 33 to search for her kidnapped father Hank (Kyle MacLachlan), she had to uncover the grim truth about his past and the true nature of the Vault-Tec experiments.

It turned out that Hank was not a simple overseer, but a cryogenically preserved Vault-Tec employee from before the war. His goal was to breed a new generation of “super managers” within the Vaults by crossbreeding the inhabitants with thawed-out executives from the past.

At the end of the eighth episode, Hank managed to escape in a stolen power armor suit. Both Lucy and the ghoul (Walton Goggins) had to watch as he headed for a place that immediately set off alarm bells for those familiar with the games: New Vegas.

Why New Vegas is so important

The arrival in New Vegas is a decisive step for the series and a long-awaited event for fans. The desert metropolis is the central setting of what many consider to be the best part of the series, the role-playing game Fallout: New Vegas from developer Obsidian Entertainment.

Unlike most other places in the wasteland, New Vegas was barely touched by atomic bombs during the Great War and is controlled by the mysterious Mr. House. The city and its surroundings are the scene of a bitter power struggle between various factions such as the New California Republic (NCR) and the slave-owning Caesar’s Legion.

The second season of Fallout will premiere exclusively on Prime Video on December 17, 2025. Given its huge success and Amazon’s confidence in the show, a third season has already been officially confirmed, ensuring the series’ future.
