Both free games have already made many players happy on Valve’s platform.

This week, you can pick up two games from the Epic Games Store that thousands of Steam users have already given a thumbs up. For fans of atmospheric puzzle games, there’s Monument Valley, and for the global strategists among you, The Battle of Polytopia might be of interest.

Monument Valley

(Genre: Puzzle game – Developer: ustwo games – Release:July 2022 (PC version)

As Princess Ida, you embark on an atmospheric puzzle adventure with relaxed and occasionally challenging gameplay.

The focus is on the geometric puzzles in each level, which often involve seeing through optical illusions. Individual elements of the game world can be moved, rotated, or otherwise altered so that the princess can continue through the level.

On Steam, Monument Valley has a total of 98 percent positive user ratings, making it one of the highest-rated games on the platform. The title is initially only available for mobile devices and has received a rating of 89 on Metacritic .

The Battle of Polytopia

(Genre:4X strategy game – Developer: Midjiwan AB – Release:August 2020)

As with most games of this genre, in this turn-based strategy game you first select a civilization and then gradually explore, develop, and conquer the map. Each civilization has its own special characteristics and attributes. You construct buildings in the cities you found and create units to explore and wage war with.

Using a technology tree, you research new production facilities, units, and scientific achievements. You can also establish diplomatic relations with other civilizations.

The game is played on randomly generated maps with adjustable sizes and terrain features. In multiplayer, up to twelve players can compete against each other.

The Steam users rate The Battle of Polytopia as 94 percent positive. On Metacritic, however, the average rating was 72. Incidentally, there are numerous DLCs available for The Battle of Polytopia, costing up to a maximum of three euros. They include new civilizations or just skins for the different peoples. In fact, Epic is even giving you an extra DLC for free this week.

As always, you have exactly one week, until September 11 at 5 p.m., to get both games for free in the Epic Games Store.
