If you don’t have anything to play on the scariest night of the year, you can now look forward to Epic’s game gifts.

That’s how fast it can happen. You look away for a moment and suddenly it’s Halloween again. There’s still time to quickly pop to the supermarket and buy some candy for the little ghostly creatures who will be roaming the streets on the night of October 31.

If you don’t have any spare cash left for your annual horror game session, you should check out Epic.
This week, you can grab two scary games for free that also have fantastic ratings on Steam.

Bendy and the Ink Machine

Genre: Puzzle horror – Developer: Joey Drew Studios – Release: February 2017

Bendy and the Ink Machine is stylistically reminiscent of classic cartoons from the 1930s. But instead of simply repurposing Mickey Mouse from Steamboat Willie, this horror game uses its own character: Bendy.

You play Henry Stein, who worked as an animator for the cartoon studio Joey Drew Studios in the 1930s and accepts an invitation from his old boss. When you arrive at the studio, however, there is not a soul to be seen and the premises themselves have seen better days. You quickly realize that the characters you drew back then have somehow managed to come to life, and Bendy is now a demonic creature hunting you down.
To put an end to this and uncover the mystery behind the ink figures, you explore the studio, solve puzzles, and restart machines while your enemies are hot on your heels.

On Steam, Bendy and the Ink Machine has a rating of 90 percent based on nearly 20,000 reviews.

Five Nights at Freddy’s: Into the Pit

Genre: 2D survival horror – Developer: Mega Cat Studios – Release: August 2024

When you hear Five Nights at Freddy’s, you might initially think of dull jump scare horror. However, the spin-off Into the Pit works differently from the games in the main series. Instead of staring at monitors as a security guard, you control middle school student Oswald in this 2D pixel side-scroller.

While exploring the ball pit in the abandoned local pizzeria, he apparently travels back in time, where, of course, not everything was better than it is today. You now have to survive five nights with Oswald, because a few bloodthirsty animatronics are out to get you.

During these nights, you travel further back in time and have to worry about more than just your own fate. In the style of Back to the Future, you meet your father, whose life is now in your hands, among others, in the different eras.

Here, too, cryptic puzzles await you. Of course, it would be too easy if you could do whatever you wanted. You can run away from the threats and hide. But be careful, because Oswald could attract attention with noises.

On Steam, Into the Pit is a real hit. An outstanding 95 percent of reviews are positive, with nearly 9,500 ratings submitted.

You now have exactly one week to collect Bendy and the Ink Machine and FNAF: Into the Pit for free on Epic – that is, until November 6, 2025, at 4:59 p.m. After that, there will be a new game giveaway.

If you still have a few euros left, it’s also worth taking a look at Steam. The Halloween sale is currently taking place there, and we’ve picked out nine games that are particularly worthwhile.
