The bird has to lose feathers

In the future, you won’t be tweeting at Twitter, as several media outlets unanimously report (including (TechCrunch and The Verge), Elon Musk is renaming the social network.

The new name is X.

The bird becomes a letter

The logo will also have to go: Until an official new sign is found, an X will temporarily represent the social network instead of the blue bird.

At around 12am, Musk began tweeting about the renaming. It began with a tweet saying: Soon we will say goodbye to the Twitter brand and gradually to all birds, followed by a second tweet in which he added: If a good enough X logo is posted tonight, we will go live globally tomorrow

Musk didn’t say any more for now, tweeting cryptic messages like this.

Even employees at Twitter got an email from Musk himself, writes an editor at the news site Platformer on Meta’s new social medium Threads

Elon Musk and the letter X

The 24th letter of the modern alphabet can be found in almost every Elon Musk project of the last two decades: Paypal was once called X. com, SpaceX, X is the name of Tesla’s SUV and once the billionaire said he wanted to turn Twitter into X, the everything app (roughly: The app for everything).

Musk has also posted a trailer to that effect.

The service is currently not answering queries to Twitter and only sends a We’ll get back to you as a response.

Elon Musk has done it again: this time it’s not a statement that’s rocking the tech world, but renaming Twitter X. What do you think of Musk’s idea? Is this a short-circuit move or was it planned long in advance? And most importantly, do you think it will be a success? Let us know in the comments.
