AdHoc Studio, which has been active since 2018, has announced its first project: Dispatch The announcement was made at this year’s Game Awards, where actor Aaron Paul and voice actress Laura Bailey presented the title for the first time. This is Paul’s (known from Breaking Bad) first gaming project. He has already worked as a voice actor in the Netflix series Bojack Horseman. Bailey, on the other hand, is considered a voice acting veteran. The fact that the two of them draw their popularity from different media was emphasized during their laudatory speech: they also emphasized during their laudatory speech

In “Dispatch”, players take on the role of Robert Robertson, better known as Mecha Man, whose mecha suit was destroyed in a fight against his arch nemesis. This setback forces him to take a job at a superhero dispatch center in Los Angeles – not as a hero, but as a dispatcher. Here he is responsible for managing a group of rehabilitated ex-supervillains, while trying to navigate relationships with colleagues and rebuild his suit in order to one day take revenge.

The game places a strong emphasis on the player’s freedom of choice. Every action influences the story: from casual banter during breaks to life-threatening situations in the field, decisions affect the loyalty and dynamics of the heroes as well as the course of the plot.

Strategy meets exploration and humor

“Dispatch” combines a deep narrative with strategic elements. Players use a strategy map to check ongoing emergencies and dispatch the appropriate heroes – or the wrong ones. They need to weigh risks and rewards, as each choice can have long-term consequences for the team and the city.

In addition, players have to manage the individual idiosyncrasies of the heroes. Each brings flaws and baggage that need to be managed to keep the team together. Heroes can become more effective in the field by unlocking new abilities and upgrades.

Availability & expectations for Dispatch

According to AdHoc Studio, Dispatch is supposed to be released on PC and consoles. However, it is not yet known on which consoles the title will be released. As for the release date, all we know so far is that the title is supposed to be released in 2025. So more concrete details will be announced in the next few months.

AdHoc Studio was founded by “industry veterans” who had worked at the former Telltale Studios, Ubisoft and Night School Studio. Here they have worked on projects such as “The Walking Dead”, among others. Based on this information, we can assume that Dispatch will present us with some tricky decisions.
