July is the start of Season 24 in Diablo 3, and we’re already giving you all the important information about the new season.

Although the release of Diablo 4 still seems like an eternity away, fans of Blizzard’s hack-and-slay series will still get enough to pass the time until the eagerly awaited successor.

Not only does Diablo 2: Resurrected, the remaster of one of the best PC role-playing games of all time, await you, but the mobile offshoot Diablo Immortal is also expected to find its way onto one smartphone or another in the not too distant future – because the game is much better than its reputation.

But first, Season 24 for Diablo 3 is coming up. What you can expect there and when it starts, we explain to you in this article.

All important information about Diablo 3: Season 24

Start times: When do we start?
End of Season 23: The current season will end on 18 July 2021.

Start of Season 24: Only a few days after the end of Season 23, the next season will start. Already on 23 July 2021 at 5 pm. Update 2.7.1 will be released on 20 July – you can find the patch notes on the second page of this article.

Season theme: What changes?
Season 24 is all about a new type of weapon: Astral Weapons (Ethereal Weapons/ETH Weapons) are only available in Season 24 and come with special bonuses.

What are Astral Weapons? Astral Weapons are upgraded versions of already known legendary items that glow turquoise instead of gold when an enemy drops them. Not only do they have significantly better stats and more affixes than their regular variant, but they also give you a random passive skill.

This makes it possible to equip four talents instead of three, opening up new possibilities for powerful builds. They can also upgrade your skills with legendary weapon skills, as is already known from other legendary items.

The following weapons can be found in astral form in Season 24:

Wizard: Spell Thorn, The Eye, Mang Song’s Lesson.
Demon Hunter: Buriza-Do Kyanon, Wind Power, Damnation Bringer
Crusader: Khalim’s Will, Astreon’s Iron Protection, The Redeemer
Barbarian: The Grandfather, Deathbringer, Mica Shard
Witch Doctor: The Gidbinn, Arioc’s Needle, Ghost Flame
Monk: Jade Claw, Shadow Slayer, Bartuc’s Half Cutter
Necromancer: Soul Harvest, Blackbog’s Lace, Black Hand Key
How do you get Astral Weapons? The Astral Weapons can only be found on defeated enemies and cannot be bought through Kanai’s dice or for blood shards from Kadala. The drop rate should be somewhere between ancient and primal Legendaries.

What else do I have to consider? If you find all 21 weapons during the season, you will receive an achievement and can use the new look as a transmog in subsequent seasons. You should also note that you can only carry one Astral Weapon at a time and that it cannot be enchanted, transmogrified, dyed, forged or traded.

You can already see some examples of Astral Weapons in the following video:

Items: What are the rewards?
Cosmetic Rewards
As with every new season, minor cosmetic rewards await you in Season 24. So far, we only have the information that there will be a portrait frame and a pet again. However, Blizzard has not yet revealed what exactly these will look like.

Haedrig’s gift
What is already known, however, are the sets that you can get through Haedrig’s gift. To do this, you need to complete the various stages of the seasonal journey. After stages two, three and four, you will each receive two parts of a set for your class.

In Season 24, the following sets are available:

Demon Hunter: Natalya’s Revenge
Barbarian: Call of the Immortal King
Wizard: Vyr’s Amazing Arcana
Witch Doctor: Spirit of Arachyr
Monk: Uliana’s Cunning
Crusader: Seeker of Light
Summoner of the Dead: Trag’Oul’s Avatar
 Achievements: What are the challenges?
In Season 24, you can once again expect five more or less tricky challenges for which you have to master special tasks. They are available in two difficulty levels (Normal and Hardcore).

In Season 24, you can get this achievement:

Minerals Collection (Normal) / I must have them all (Hardcore): Upgrade 3 legendary gems to level 65.
Boss Mode (Normal) / In a class of its own (Hardcore): Kill all listed bosses on Qual 10 in under 20 minutes after starting the game.
Otherwise it would be too easy (Normal) / Superhuman (Hardcore): Reach a level 45 Great Nephalem Portal (solo) without your hero having set items on.
Cursed and Stitched (Normal) / Who Would Have Thought? (Hardcore): Kill 350 monsters at max level during a Cursed Chest event on Qual 10 difficulty or higher.
Portalomania (Normal) / Dynasty (Hardcore): Complete a level 55 Great Nephalem Portal (Solo) with six different class sets.
