Fantastic Four: First Steps is coming out in July 2025. Now we get our first look at Galactus, the dreaded planet eater.

With a dark voice, he can be heard saying, “For a little snack, I’d like the Earth of the Fantastic Four.” While the planet-eater Galactus will most likely not express himself this way in First Steps, the intention is clear. After all, devouring entire worlds is his daily bread.

Now there’s a first real image of the new Marvel villain and it’s making fans tremble with fear. No wonder: you’ve never seen the gigantic, cosmic being this close before.

Almost like in the comics

A new poster for the upcoming Marvel movie Fantastic Four: First Steps shows our heroes Mr. Fantastic (Pedro Pascal), Invisible Woman (Vanessa Kirby), Human Torch (Joseph Quinn), and The Thing (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) in the foreground.

But… Oh, God! What is that huge thing towering over the four of them? Yes, that’s Galactus (Ralph Ineson). The mighty planet eater. You can take a look at the photo here:

If you don’t remember exactly who Galactus is: In the comics, Galan was born on the planet Taa. He was the only survivor of the Big Bang and has since been roaming the galaxy as a cosmic entity called “Galactus,” devouring worlds.

Incidentally, the world destroyer looks very similar to his comic book counterpart here. Only the color has been toned down a bit in the live-action version, and the villain appears a little paler. Here’s a direct comparison:

If you’re wondering what the words “Snapple” on the poster mean: Snapple is a brand of tea and soft drinks that is currently collaborating with Marvel . According to this, there are currently juice bottles in the US with a member of the new group of heroes printed on them.

What do fans think of Galactus’ look?

On Reddit, the villain’s appearance is already being hotly debated. After all, Galactus is no longer a cloud, as was the case in the old movie Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007)

Fans are more than thrilled by the reveal. Only his pale appearance is drawing criticism. Here are some examples:

  • “This Galactus will have a booming voice and be very scary. Ralph [Ineson] is the right man for the job. He’ll do it.” – User pistolpete2185
  • “I like that his face looks old and weathered.” – User Rick_Napalm
  • “I don’t like how desaturated the colors are, but otherwise it’s perfect.” – User PoloBar11
  • “This looks fantastic, 4/4.” – User Themanaaah
  • “This looks much better than the cloud we had 20 years ago. I can’t believe people prefer the [old] version of this.” – User VeganInTheWild

We will be able to marvel at Galactus in all his glory starting July 24, 2025. That’s when Fantastic Four: First Steps hits theaters here. The new team of heroes will also appear in Avengers: Doomsday, and thanks to Thunderbolts, we probably even know how they end up in the “sacred” timeline of the MCU. You can find more on that in the article linked above.
