An often overlooked weapon mod in Borderlands 4 turns out to be a secret companion that supports you with powerful healing and buffs.
It’s easy to lose track of things in the seemingly endless flood of loot in Borderlands 4. However, a recent case on Reddit shows that even after 100 hours of gameplay, game-changing mechanics remain undiscovered. One player discovered by chance that one of his weapons can launch an extremely powerful support drone via an alternative fire mode.
The reactions show that he was definitely not alone in this.

“I’ve never seen this after 70 hours!”
The discovery caused quite a stir in the community, as many experienced players were unaware of the existence of this feature. Winter_Ad_2618, for example, wrote: “Wait, I’ve never seen this and I’ve been playing for 70 hours! This is fantastic.”
The discoverer, Coleybama, tested the ability himself immediately after a boss fight and confirmed its enormous effectiveness:
It effortlessly healed me from certain death. Lasts about 12 seconds. 12k health points healed. Plus the bonuses.
But the other buffs besides healing are also impressive: As long as the drone is active, you get 20 percent more damage, movement, and reload speed. And best of all, the drone remains active even after you change weapons.
However, the Reddit thread also makes it clear how exceptionally rare this weapon mod seems to be. While some players have found it at low levels, veterans report never having seen it. Hellzyehimerik writes: “I’ve done hundreds and hundreds of boss rounds and seen easily a few thousand weapons. I’ve NEVER seen THIS before.”
