Diablo 4 was ousted from its throne, Remnant 2 managed to sell the best in the US in July. But an old shooter also returns to the Top 20

The developers of Remnant 2 can pat themselves on the back: The co-op shooter is not only well received, but in the release month of July it even managed to collect more sales in the USA than Diablo 4 But there are other surprising titles in the top 20.

As shared by analyst (Mat Piscatella on X) (formerly of Twitter), Gearbox’s game was able to skyrocket to the top spot in just seven days (the title was released on July 25). Over a million copies of Remnant 2 have been swiped across digital and real-world counters, as the (development studio itself confirmed).

But other new releases also made it into the top 20 in July: Nintendo’s Pikmin 4 climbed to number 6, while Exoprimal landed at number 16. By the way, all platforms are counted, whether Xbox, PlayStation, Switch or PC.

Calculated for the whole of 2023, however, Remnant 2 is of course still far behind the success of Diablo 4, where the shooter has so far landed at number 18, whereas Blizzard’s action role-playing game is already at number 3 behind Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Hogwarts Legacy.

More surprises

There are three Call of Duty games in the top 20: In addition to the most recent spin-off, Modern Warfare 2 (20) are also in the mix. Black Ops 2 in particular has received a considerable boost – the month before, the shooter landed at just 83rd place.

According to Piscatella, this is due to an update on the Xbox platforms, making multiplayer playable there again. To go with it, the games were also available at a lower price.

But it’s not the only game that’s been around for a few years and is still selling extremely well: Mario Kart 8 holds at 12th place and the long-running Minecraft at 14th.

Which of the games did you buy in July and what was your gaming highlight of the past month? Feel free to let us know in the comments!
