Since the announcement of Infnity, fans have been concerned about a reorientation of the series towards Free2Play mechanics. Ubisoft comments on this in an investor call.

The announcement of Assassin’s Creed Infinity made waves, because for the first time in the series history, the term Live Service, which is often associated with Free2Play mechanisms and in-game shops and is unpopular with many players, was mentioned. Accordingly, series fans are anxious about the game because they fear that it will be very different from its predecessors. Ubisoft has now commented on the plans for Infinity.

Ambitious plans, but no F2P

According to the website (Videogameschronicle), the French publisher was also asked about Assasin’s Creed Infinity in a call with investors to mark its second-half financial results. CEO Yves Guillemot then smashed one of the biggest worries of many fans with clear words:

It will not be Free2Play and the game will have many narrative elements.

This clarification may reassure some, but it still doesn’t answer the question of how extensive the in-game purchases will be. Guillemot is also silent on this. He continues with another message to the fans:

It’s going to be a very innovative game, but it’s also going to have everything that players already know from the other Assassin’s Creed games, all the elements that they love, right out of the gate. It’s going to be a huge game with a lot of content that already exists in the games we’ve released in the past.

When will there be new info on Assassin’s Creed Infinity?

Despite these statements, it is still only vaguely known what kind of game Infinity will be. So it stands to reason that fans want concrete information about the game world, the characters and more. But it will probably take quite some time before the PR machinery gets going. According to Ubisoft’s Chief Financial Officer Frédérick Duguet, the title is still in an early stage of development.

What do you expect from Assassin’s Creed Infinity? Do you see potential in a large online world that will even connect several eras, or do you rather want a classic single-player adventure, as you are used to from the series? Feel free to write us your opinion in the comments!
