Platforms: Where will Anno 117 be released?
For the first time, Anno 117 will not only be developed for PC. The building game will also be released on current consoles from the outset. But Ubisoft is also taking a broad approach on PC this time around. The following platforms have been officially confirmed so far:
- PC (Epic Store and Ubisoft Store)

New content: What are the most important details about the game?
- Two regions: Anno 117 is set in ancient Rome and offers two separate regions at launch: Latium and Albion. The former reflects the mild Roman heartland, while Albion represents the Celtic north. We have to choose where to begin our journey.
- Decisions: Romanization will be an important theme in Anno 117. It will be up to us whether we Romanize the inhabitants of Albion or leave their culture untouched. This creates a completely new game mechanic, as we can choose which population level should be created next. We can also choose between two characters in the campaign and decide who will rule as emperor.
- Optional goods: In Anno 117, we always have a choice of several goods to satisfy the needs of a population level. For example, the first level requires either sardines or groats. However, there are also advantages to bringing in all goods.
- Religion: Anno 117 gets its own religion system. We assign a deity to each island, which provides various buffs. There are six gods in total in the game.
- Research tree: We no longer only unlock new buildings and upgrades via the population level. We can also generate knowledge and use it to purchase technologies in three categories in a research tree: economy, civil, and military.
- Military: Land battles return in Anno 117. They take place in real time with direct control over the units. A little like in Total War, but much simpler. To fortify our cities, we build walls and towers, and the training of an army is closely linked to our economy. We can now also customize ships modularly with a ship editor.
- Swamp: In Albion, you have to colonize the swamp, as special resources such as eels await there. However, you can also choose to drain the swamp, creating new building space for ordinary buildings.
Gameplay: Is there anything to see from the game?
Yes! On May 19, Ubisoft not only showed off tons of gameplay, but also published first impressions from journalists and content creators.
DLCs: Is new game content coming?
Anno 1800 already received long-term support, and Anno 117 will also rely on the season model. Many changes are even explicitly designed to make it easier to add new content to the game. The first Season Pass has already been unveiled and includes the following DLCs:
- 1st DLC: First up, this DLC brings new islands and natural disasters to the game.
- 2nd DLC: The second DLC introduces the Circus Maximus as a new monument.
- 3. DLC: The season is rounded off with a new region inspired by Egypt.
