The co-op survival game Aloft, from Funcom and Astrolabe Interactive Inc., will take off into Early Access on January 15, 2025. Interested parties can expect an extensive sandbox experience in a world full of floating islands that invites exploration and customization.

During the Steam Next Fest in June of this year, interested parties were able to immerse themselves in the world of Aloft. Those who were unable to immerse themselves in the cozy adventure at the time can still catch up, as the demo is still available for download. The level of anticipation for the title can already be seen in the SteamWishlists. Over 300,000 people have bookmarked the title.

Floating islands as personal sky ships

In Aloft, islands in the sky become the basis for survival and adventure. Players build their own floating home base, which they can equip with various features. They can also build gadgets here to master the elements and control the winds. These include sails, steering mechanisms, and rudders.

With this mechanic, we can create our own flying islands, not just survive storms. We build individual sky ships that allow us to navigate between the clouds. On this adventure in Aloft, we can plunge alone or with up to seven other people. Together, we can build an air village and make the sky shine.
Protect the environment and reveal secrets.

Aloft is not just a cozy survival adventure. It also offers a profound message about environmental protection. When we set out for new islands, we can rid these worlds of pollution. After that, we can take care of animals and cultivate plants here. But it’s not just hobby farmers who get their money’s worth here.

Hobby explorers can uncover the secrets of this world by collecting rare seeds, discovering ancient technologies and new biomes. In addition, new mechanics are to be added in the course of Early Access to further expand Aloft’s adventure.

Developers, publishers and Early Access platforms

Behind Aloft is the Canadian developer studio Astrolabe Interactive, which also designs board games in addition to video games. Together with publisher Funcom, they want to release the upcoming adventure on January 15 on Steam in Early Access. It is not yet known whether other platforms will follow.
