Assassin’s Creed Valhalla update 1.4.1 is out today, and we’ve got all the info and the patch notes.

Before the big Assassins Creed Valhalla addon Dawn of Ragnarok hits next year, the now released title update 1.4.1 does some much needed groundwork.

The game structure had to be rebuilt so that the game can be expanded by updates in the future. Therefore, you will not be able to avoid a complete download of the game. The good news is that the title update 1.4.1 also brings lots of new content.

All info about the update 1.4.1

When will the new update be released? The download will be available from 14 December 2021 at 1pm.

How big is the new update? As we explain in detail below, you will have to download the entire game again for the title update 1.4.1. But the good news is: Valhalla will take up much less space on your hard drive in the future

  • PC: 77 GB
  • Xbox Series X/S: 69 GB
  • Xbox One: 60 GB
  • PlayStation 5: 39 GB
  • PlayStation 4: 65 GB

  • Crossover Stories with AC: Odyssey

Series fans can look forward to a crossover event with the predecessor Odyssey. Eivor will also receive rewards in the visual style of Odyssey as a reward. To participate in the crossover event in Valhalla, your settlement must already be level 4.

Winter Festival

From 16 December 2021 to 6 January 2022, the Yule Festival will take place. As a reward, you can get new decorative items for your character (for example, a beard and hair full of snow) and your settlement.

More customisable difficulty

In the future, you will be able to customise the difficulty of Valhalla even more. For this purpose, the aspects of combat, stealth and exploration have been divided into three sub-menus, in which you can now set your very own level of challenge in fine gradations.

In the combat section, you can now set the time window available to you for a successful parry in addition to the aiming aid. In stealth, for example, it is now possible to set how long enemies look for you before they let you go. Exploration can be made easier by, for example, switching off the synchronisation of the vantage points.

Now you can customise your difficulty level even more to your own preferences.

Update 1.4.1 makes AC Valhalla shrink

Updates of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla usually run automatically or at least without much effort. With the new patch, however, it will be mandatory to re-download the base game of AC Valhalla. Expansions are not affected.

This step is necessary due to a restructuring of the game files, as Ubisoft explains in a (Forum post). Only in this way can new updates and content of AC Valhalla be supported in the future. In addition, the data restructuring makes itself strongly felt on our hard drive. After the new download, Valhalla requires a whole 34 GB less on the PC and thus only takes up a total of 77 GB on the hard disk. In addition, we can expect faster loading screens and improved performance as a result.

Much more awaits Assassin’s Creed Valhalla

There will be more new content for AC Valhalla in the coming year in the form of DLCs, that’s for sure. We have already summarised everything about the third DLC, which will be called “Dawn of Ragnarok”, in our big info collection:

AC Valhalla: Dawn of Ragnarok – What you need to know about the huge addon

So you see, Assassins Creed Valhalla is far from retiring. It remains to be seen what new content is planned after Dawn of Ragnarok.

What do you think of the 1.4.1 update? Do you mind having to download Assassin’s Creed Valhalla again? Feel free to let us know in the comments.
