Blizzard wants to test whether the loot spiral in Diablo 4 works. That”s why a closed beta will soon take place, but not everyone will have access to it by a long shot.

It sounds a bit strange at first: Diablo 4 wants you to test the endgame before you have even taken a single step in the campaign. The reason given by the developers is that they don”t want to spoil the story for you. And of course, the end game is the most important part of Diablo, so your feedback is highly appreciated.

However, you can”t just sign up for this closed beta, you have to prove yourself as a real Diablo expert – and even then, strict rules apply. We”ve collected all the information you need about the content and participation for you.

Diablo 4 Endgame Beta: What we know

In this video, franchise GM Rod Fergusson and game director Joe Shely give you a brief overview. You can read the full details in the article below.

When is the Endgame Beta?

Blizzard has not announced a concrete date. However, since 19 October, the first players have been reporting (that they have received access). So if you haven”t checked your email inbox yet, you should do so now!

Blizzard originally said that the invitations would be sent out by 18 November 2022 at the latest. So if you haven”t currently received a message, that could still change by then.

Small consolation for all those who cannot participate: Public testing for Diablo 4 is scheduled to start in early 2023.

What is playable in the Endgame Beta?

  • Hell Flood: In this special event that affects an entire area, Lilith”s minions become stronger and more dangerous, but also drop better loot when you destroy them. They also sometimes drop the special in-game currency Cinders, which you can then use to open Hell Flood chests that spawn in the world.
    Nightmare Dungeons:
  • Once you find the first Nightmare Signet, dungeons will open on Nightmare difficulty. With the seals you add extra modifiers to the assigned dungeon, so you make the challenge even harder for yourself – for better loot, of course!
  • Whispers of the Dead: These are quests that pop up regularly and are scattered around the world map. Complete them and collect experience, gold and gruesome gifts. You can exchange ten of these gifts for loot at the Whispering Tree.
  • Fields of Hate: Mephisto has turned parts of Sanctuary into Fields of Hate – these are PvP zones. You send demons there to collect Seeds of Hate and grind them into Red Dust. Other players compete with you for the resources.
  • Paragon Panels: From level 50 you unlock powerful character upgrades with these.

In the game, you must reach certain levels or complete challenges to unlock the listed content. But since the beta is explicitly about the endgame, you get direct access there.

At least unofficially, there was a longer glimpse into the campaign: Only recently, almost an hour of gameplay from Diablo 4 was leaked, showing, among other things, the barbarian class and the in-game shop.

How do I take part in the Endgame Beta?

This is not so easy, because the developers want to pick out the absolute experts among you. For this purpose, they analyse game data on Battle.net to find those who have invested a lot of time in the past in the predecessors Diablo 2: Resurrected and Diablo 3

If you want to throw your name into the participant pool, you may need to change your privacy settings in Battle.net to do so. To do this, follow these steps:

  • Go to your account settings (in Battle.net)
  • Switches to the “Privacy” option
  • Under “Information Settings” you will find the item “Battle.net News and Offers”.
  • Tick this box to be notified if you are one of those selected.
  • You must have switched this no later than 11 October 2022!

Caution: If you are contacted and want to participate, you will be required to sign an NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement) which states you cannot talk publicly about your impressions. The point of the beta is explicitly to give feedback to the developers so that they can hopefully implement it. Sascha Penzhorn is sceptical about the future of Diablo!

Which platforms is the end-game beta running on?

You can play on PC, PlayStation 4 and 5 as well as Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. Cross-play and cross-progression are supported.

Do you fancy your chances of getting into the Diablo 4 endgame beta? Would you attend if an invite landed in your inbox?
