A dream that fans never gave up on

When “Cyberpunk 2077” was released in 2020, expectations were sky-high. Despite a chaotic launch marred by bugs and performance issues, the sci-fi epic became a cult role-playing game.
But one thing was sorely missing: a multiplayer mode. Although an online component was repeatedly discussed, the idea was ultimately shelved. Much to the regret of many players who had dreamed of a shared future in Night City online.
Clues from new job ads by developer CD Projekt RED suggest that the sequel, “Cyberpunk 2,” will pick up where the first part left off. Fans hope that this time around, the world won’t have to be experienced solo. Instead, real interactions with other players will be possible.

“Lead Network Engineer wanted” – more than just a small hint

The speculation surrounding a multiplayer mode is not unfounded. According to current job postings, CD Projekt RED is looking for specialists to work explicitly on online features. The position of Lead Network Engineer is to head up a team working on the development and optimization of multiplayer systems for “Cyberpunk 2.”

Other announcements point in the same direction. Reading between the lines, it appears that this time the developers are not venturing into a half-hearted experiment, but want to build multiplayer into the DNA of the game from the ground up. Although there is no official confirmation yet, the signs clearly point to “more players, more possibilities.”

For the community, this would be a historic step:
roaming Night City not just as a lone warrior, but together
. Whether in missions, battles, or simply exploring the neon-lit metropolis. If this suspicion proves true, “Cyberpunk 2” would not only build on the strengths of its predecessor, but also make one of the greatest fantasies a reality.
