With an update, the closed beta of Counter-Strike 2 grows with the map Overpass. The water in particular is causing open mouths there.

Simulating liquids realistically in video games is probably not one of the easiest tasks for developers. The closed beta of Counter-Strike 2 now impresses with a graphically particularly elaborate puddle, which partly causes open mouths among game fans.

Planking like in real life

The Twitter user and CS fan Aquarius shows in a short video of the map Overpass how realistically the water of Counter-Strike 2 behaves. Not only do players displace water when walking through it, but shots and grenades also cause smaller and larger splashes and circular waves to spread across the surface. But best see for yourself:

The recently published post has already collected over 18,000 likes and has also been reposted by professional player Nadeshot

Fans show enthusiasm in the comments, although there are also concerns due to the potentially high system requirements.

Here you can see the water effects in more detail!

If you’re wondering why players have only just become aware of the impressive water effects, we have an answer for you: The map Overpass, which can be seen in the video, is part of a brand new update for the closed beta of CS2 together with Vertigo and other innovations.

Overpass belongs to the category of maps that have been completely renewed for the new Counter-Strike. There are also maps that have only been optimised with regard to lighting, particle effects and other improvements.

What do you think of the water effects in Counter-Strike 2? Are you also impressed by how realistically the water surface behaves when you cross the puddle or shoot at it? Or do you not care about such visual details because you don’t even notice them in a shooter in the heat of battle? Feel free to tell us in the comments!
