CoD Modern Warfare 3: A single menu setting makes an average assault rifle invincible

A little trick currently makes burst weapons significantly more powerful than the developers probably intended

In Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3, a player has discovered an apparently overpowered trick in the menu that radically increases the power of a certain assault rifle. The CoD YouTuber FourEyes has discovered a method with which an ordinary burst weapon can be transformed into a fully automatic weapon – and thus shed its greatest weakness.

How the trick works in MW3

How does the trick work? The discovery concerns the DG-58, a weapon that is only supposed to fire three-round bursts.

But with a simple adjustment in the game settings, the DG-58 can be transformed into a fully automatic assault rifle. All you have to do is go to the game settings under Gameplay Advanced combat settings  and set the Manual fire behavior from Press to Hold there.

Why this trick is so good

This setting causes the weapon to fire continuously as long as the trigger is held down. This allows you to focus more on aiming accuracy rather than manually timing each volley

In the CoD community, this trick is already being referred to as gamebreaking, as it turns the actually mediocre DG-58 into one of the most powerful weapons in the game.

For the best performance of the DG-58, FourEyes recommends the following loadout in its video:

• DG-56 LS18 Barrel
• MK. 3 Reflector Optic
• Soldier Pro Padded Stock
• SL Skeletal Vertical Underbarrel
• Shadowstrike Support Muzzle

With this combination, the DG-58 becomes one of the best weapons in the game, blasting enemies with frighteningly accurate precision

This must be removed or nerfed

Even FourEyes himself thinks that this trick is definitely too powerful. In his tweet he writes:

It remains to be seen whether and to what extent the developers will make adjustments here. They are unlikely to remove the manual fire behavior option from the game. It is therefore possible that the DG-58 will soon receive a nerf – which will make the already average weapon work even worse for players who don’t use the trick
