Why you should change your field of view (FOV) in Battlefield 6 – and to what value

The default setting of 90 degrees looks nice, but could slow you down on the battlefield. If you want a better overview, you should change it immediately.

  • Call of Duty: Black Ops 7

Players in the Battlefield 6 community agree: the default FOV of 90 degrees doesn’t provide enough visibility on the battlefield.
If you want more awareness, you should increase the FOV to around 100°. We’ll explain why.

FOV stands for field of view – the area you can see in the game. A lower FOV value shows you less to the side, but makes things appear a little closer. A higher value shows more of the playing field, making enemies visible at the edges sooner, but can cause slight distortion.

Battlefield 6 is set to 90° by default. This looks good, but sacrifices valuable overview.

    Why should you increase FOV?

Here’s how to change the FOV value:

    • Go to the game menu under Settings → Graphics / Display
    • Set the FOV slider to 100°
    • Tip: Experiment in increments of five to find out what suits your playing style best.

    The advantages:

    • Better overview: Enemies, vehicles, or movements outside the center of the screen are visible more quickly.
    • Better sense of space: Everything appears clearer in narrow buildings or interior spaces.
    • Faster gameplay: Many players find the gameplay more dynamic and responsive.
    • Competitive advantage: Seeing more means you can react faster – a particular advantage in close combat.

The comparison: In the two screenshots, you can compare FOV 90 with FOV 100 and see the differences for yourself:

    The disadvantages:

    • Smaller enemy models: The wider camera makes distant targets appear smaller, which can make aiming more difficult at first.
    • Slight distortion at the top of the screen.
    • Slightly increased system load: Minimal performance loss, but mostly irrelevant on modern hardware.

Despite these points, a value of 100° for the FOV setting is a popular compromise in the community: more visibility without significant distortion.

Voices from the community: We took a look around the community and compiled a list of values recommended by other active players.

      • Reddit user Noxeron plays on a super-ultra-wide monitor and comments: I switch between 110 and 120. 120 feels very immersive, but lowering it makes things appear larger in the distance. Like a zoom.
      • YouTuber Maxiq recommends an FOV value of 110, but says that it depends heavily on the player. If you have an aggressive playing style, you should increase the value. If you are a passive player, you should reduce it. If you have trouble spotting enemies, you should also reduce the FOV value.

What FOV value do you use when playing Battlefield 6, and what would you recommend to the community? Let us know what you think in the comments here on GlobalESportNews.
