Fans are pushing back against too much hype and urging caution. Nevertheless, pre-sales are apparently going strong.
The Battlefield community has become skeptical—and with good reason! After Battlefield 5 and Battlefield 2042 disappointed many fans in recent years, a certain amount of caution seems to have become the order of the day.
The highest-rated comment under the Battlefield 6 reveal trailer is therefore: “Remember, no preorders.”
It’s a phrase that has become a mantra repeated like a prayer in Reddit threads and under YouTube videos about BF6 – don’t get too carried away by the hype and don’t throw your pre-order money at EA, is the motto.
Battlefield 6 becomes top seller
But despite all the (justified) skepticism, the marketing strategy for Battlefield 6 seems to be paying off: More than two full months before its release, Battlefield 6 already occupies a top spot on Steam in the global Steam bestsellers list.
Even long-running hits such as Marvel Rivals and highly anticipated new releases such as Titan Quest 2 are currently trailing behind Battlefield 6’s pre-order offer.

The situation is similar in the PlayStation Store, where only the new NBA game Battlefield is still competing. In other words, the shooter is already an absolute hit.
This is not really surprising, as the title has garnered over 16 million views on YouTube in the last ten days alone with its bombastic trailers, while positive forecasts from the press and praise from the influencer bubble are pouring in.
Is it worth pre-ordering?
At the same time, pre-order behavior reveals a discrepancy between the skepticism expressed online and the actual purchasing behavior of users.
For every fan who fell for the grandiose promises of BF2042 and is now calling for restraint, there are obviously dozens of others who are getting carried away by the positive mood and securing a pre-order – for up to $100.
After our first few rounds in the beta, we also have a lot of positive things to say about Battlefield 6. However, we still categorically advise against pre-ordering.
Firstly, digital goods cannot run out, which means that pre-orders without physical extras only make limited sense.
Secondly, in our opinion, you should at least wait for the open beta (and ideally also the first reviews) before making an informed purchase decision.
Who is the competition?
After the multiplayer reveal on July 31, Battlefield 6 made a stellar rise in the global Steam wish lists, shooting up to 15th place.
The release is scheduled for October 10, 2025, on PS5, PC (via Steam, Epic, or EA App), and Xbox Series X and S. Last-gen consoles will no longer be supported.
Competition for Battlefield 6 will come this year in the form of CoD Black Ops 7 and Arc Raiders.
