Battlefield 6: In the beta, we all thought snipers were the worst nuisance—but now there’s an even bigger one.

The shooter is plagued by an extremely high density of landmines.

In the Battlefield 6 beta, the Liberation Peak map felt like walking the red carpet at the Oscars: flashbulbs were popping everywhere. Unfortunately, it wasn’t the paparazzi, but the reflection of the scopes of dozens of snipers.

But a few days after the launch, one thing is clear: the biggest threat isn’t lurking on the horizon, it’s right at your feet.

The EA deal: background on the new owners

In September 2025, it was announced that EA would be privatized and transferred to an investor consortium for around €47 billion. The new owners of EA include the Saudi Arabian sovereign wealth fund PIF and Affinity Partners, Jared Kushner’s investment firm. Saudi Arabia is accused of political and human rights abuses, such as the persecution of activists and journalists. There is also deep-rooted discrimination against minorities. Freedom of expression is structurally suppressed. Jared Kushner, Donald Trump’s son-in-law, has repeatedly been criticized for dubious real estate deals, secret contacts with the Russian government, and allegations of corruption. Kushner also maintains close contact with Saudi Crown Prince and PIF Chairman Mohammed bin Salman.

Everything is full of mines

If you’re looking for the pickaxe in the game, stop right there—we’re talking about landmines. The engineer’s vehicle defense gadget is all over the streets of Battlefield 6 maps, and that’s really annoying some players.

“These vehicle mines are just OP,” complains jxjsjsns and another user named pirivalfang says:

Also, they’re basically impossible to spot on maps with a lot of ground debris/rubble when you’re traveling in a vehicle. You might have a chance in third-person view, but in camera view? Good luck.

However, other users believe that they are only used so frequently so soon after launch because players have not yet unlocked any alternatives.

(Ash_Killem) explains: ”Because it’s the first gadget, all the pioneers are using it. Plus, progress is rather slow.” Our tester Tillman has already commented extensively on the agonizingly slow process of unlocking weapons.

What countermeasures are there?

Of course, Battlefield 6 doesn’t leave you completely defenseless as you roll your tank into destruction. The most obvious solution is to keep your eyes open and spot the mines on the ground. But in the heat of battle, that’s no easy task.

In addition, the battle tank has equipment for the gunner that can be used to detect mines and C4 and, when activated, destroy them. However, this equipment must first be unlocked. Vehicles can also drive slowly (CTRL on PC) and will not trigger mines.

Reconnaissance units have another countermeasure right from the start. With the drone , you can not only spot enemies, but the thermal vision also shows you enemy mines.

So it will take some time before players have unlocked other gadgets for the engineer and there will be fewer mines. Currently, many simply have no alternative. This means you have to be very careful when traveling in a vehicle. Another option is to simply play pure infantry modes. But tanks are also simply part of Battlefield.
