Fans are excited about the rumored return of Operations mode, but what made it so good back then? We’ll explain it to you.

When the X account Battlefield Intel posts new insider information, fans of the multiplayer shooter know that there is a very good chance that it is true. That’s because Battlefield Intel has a very high success rate when it comes to upcoming content for the current installment of the series.

Battlefield 6 is therefore very likely to be expanded with a whole host of new and old content in Season 2. This includes what is probably the most popular game mode from Battlefield 1.

Operations and Onslaught modes return

As you can see from the Battlefield Intel info post embedded above, two familiar game modes are making a comeback in Season 2.

The Operations mode from Battlefield 1

The special thing about this mode was that several maps were interlinked to create a kind of campaign. This created an intense sense of camaraderie among players who fought on the same side across multiple battles.

In the revamped version for Battlefield 6, Operations mode could potentially focus even more on this team structure within the squads or make the transitions between maps more dynamic to achieve even greater immersion.

The Onslaught mode from Bad Company 2

We have to look even further back in time for the second suspected returnee. The Onslaught mode is particularly familiar to fans of Bad Company 2.
Back then, players could team up against AI enemies to achieve victory on modified PvE variants of the familiar maps.
It’s quite possible that Onslaught will also be used in Battlefield 6 to offer the community an alternative to traditional PvP battles.

There are also new weapons

According to Battlefield Intel, Season 2 not only brings new and revamped modes, but also a lot more, including:

  • The ability to throw back grenades will be available again.
  • Gas masks are making a comeback.
  • Battle Royale with Ranked Mode
  • New weapons, namely the VCR-2 Assault Rifle, M121 A2 LMG, GRT-CPS Marksman Rifle, and HTI-MK2 Lancet

Now, of course, we come to the obligatory But:

But please keep in mind that this information about Season 2 of Battlefield 6 has not yet been officially confirmed by DICE. So don’t get your hopes up too soon, lest you end up disappointed when… well, let’s be honest: it’s very likely that there’s some truth to the rumors.

Would you be happy about Operations and Onslaught, or would you have preferred different content in Season 2? Feel free to share your opinion in the comments!
