Did you think EA and Dice would leave you hanging for two months? No way! Battlefield 2042 is back in action.

The beta servers aren’t even cold yet, and there’s already new content for Battlefield 6, albeit in its predecessor, Battlefield 2042. But if you’re not tempted by a free Battle Pass and skin packs alone, EA and Dice are throwing in a real classic map and a few new weapons and aircraft as well.

Update 9.2 for Battlefield 2042

The update is already live and is a 7.3 GB download on PC. It’s titled Road to Battlefield 6 and includes a completely free Battle Pass.

From August 18 to October 7, you can complete weekly missions to unlock the 60 levels of the Battle Pass.

In addition to numerous rewards for BF2042, you can also earn 6 skin packs for the sequel, which will be released on October 10, 2025. Each pack contains between four and seven items. There are:

  • 2 packs with weapon cosmetics
  • 2 packs with vehicle cosmetics
  • 2 packs with soldier cosmetics

New map, weapons, and jets

The new update includes a true classic among Battlefield maps. The Pacific island of Iwo Jima already appeared in Battlefield 1942, 1943, and V. The volcano on the island is active and will interfere with the battle in its own way.

There are also two new weapons:

  • KFS2000 (Assault Rifle): A bullpup assault rifle with high precision and control
  • Lynx (Sniper Rifle): A sniper rifle designed specifically for combat against vehicles. Beta participants have automatically unlocked the weapon.

With the A10 Warthog and the SU-25TM Frogfoot , there are two new fighter jets that specialize in combat against vehicles. For this reason, the attack power of other aircraft against vehicles has been reduced.

Update 9.2 also includes numerous improvements and bug fixes for weapons, modes, vehicles, and maps. In addition, the Battlefield community team has converted fan artwork into player cards, which will now be released in the game bit by bit. An event featuring the best community creations will also take place in the Portal in September.
