The demo in the eShop seamlessly carries over your game progress. Capcom will release the action RPG on December 4, 2026, including all title updates.
There are still a few weeks to go until the release of Monster Hunter Wilds on Nintendo Switch 2, but you can try out the game at home right now.
You can now find a free prologue demo of the action RPG in the eShop, which also lets you get a head start on the full version.
Save Game Transfer and Local Co-op: What’s Included in the Prologue Demo
All progress made in the demo will be seamlessly carried over to the full version, so your hunt will pick up exactly where it left off.
“The demo includes the entire opening sequence of Monster Hunter Wilds,” writes Capcom. “This also includes the extensive character editor, which allows players to customize their own character and Palico partner. Hunters will also get a first glimpse into the story. The battle against monsters in the Wind Plains offers a taste of the action.“
The demo can only be played offline—but you can form a group via a local wireless network to play together.
Early-bird bonuses and all title updates: Switch 2 version launches with full content
Meanwhile, you can pre-order Monster Hunter Wilds on the eShop starting today. If you do so by December 3, 2026, you’ll receive an early-bird discount as well as the “Hunter Decorative Armor Set: “Guild Knight” and the “Amulet of Hope” talisman. A physical Deluxe Edition is also available for pre-order at retailers and includes the base game as well as the Deluxe Pack with cosmetic content.
The game will finally be released on December 4, 2026, for the Switch 2 and includes all content from previous title updates for other platforms. This includes the Great Sanctuary and additional monsters such as Mizutsune, Lagiacrus, Seregios, and the Elder Dragon Gogmazios. The collaboration with Final Fantasy XIV Online and additional challenges are also available.
The previously announced Ascendance expansion will follow in 2027, though no specific release date has been set yet.
