A leaker does not expect RDNA 5 before Computex in June 2027; a later date is more likely. There’s also a setback regarding memory.

The still-current RX 9000 series is steadily approaching its second anniversary. In the context of graphics cards, this usually means that attention is gradually shifting toward successors—but given the skyrocketing memory prices, “business as usual” in the PC market has been virtually unthinkable for months.

Signs that AMD’s next-generation GPU will be further delayed as a result are therefore mounting. As early as last June, the first half of 2027 was all but ruled out as a release window; now, a well-known leaker is adding to the speculation.

“No chance” in the next six months

This leaker is Kepler_L2, who posted on Anandtech Forum regularly provides reliable updates on upcoming GPUs.

  • When asked whether the RDNA 5 generation is expected to be released within the next three to five months, Kepler_L2 replied with a simple and clear “no.”
  • Another user’s inquiry, which raised the possibility of Computex 2027 taking place in June, yielded a slightly more positive response: The tech trade show is the earliest possible date, but a release later in the year is more likely.

A slightly older report

No 4 GB GDDR7 for the Next Generation

However, according to the Weibo leaker Golden Pig Upgrade (via Wccftech) is expected to hit the market in one to two years, which could make them interesting—at least in theory—if the release of the next GPU generation is delayed.

Kepler_L2 put a stop to this idea: GDDR7 (the current graphics memory standard) with four gigabytes per chip will not be used there.

This would limit the memory to a maximum of three gigabytes per chip; based on the RX 9070 XT’s 256-bit interface, the next flagship model would thus be targeting at least 24 GB of memory—though whether the price will cooperate by then is another matter.
