Sega reveals the next stop on Axel’s world tour, and it’s quite different from the locations shown so far.
With Crazy Taxi: World Tour, Axel finally gets to cruise around the world. After SEGA showcased a map heavily inspired by Cologne—and Germany in general—as well as a classic map reminiscent of San Francisco at Gamescom 2026, it now appears the journey is heading to Japan. In a short teaser, fans can already catch a glimpse of the first details about the new location.
Racing past Mount Fuji at full throttle
The trailer features, among other things, a rendition of the famous Shibuya Crossing. A large Sega arcade is also part of the setting, and other traditional Japanese buildings can be seen nearby. While cruising through the city, fans can also catch glimpses of Mount Fuji from time to time.
Street racers also appear in the city. It’s not yet known whether you’ll be able to race against them, but it would certainly fit well with the fast-paced style of Crazy Taxi. The mix of a modern metropolis and traditional Japan in particular could certainly go over well with many fans and give the new map a character all its own.
Where will Axel stop next?
This makes Japan the third region to be unveiled, following Germany and the classic San Francisco map. In total, Crazy Taxi: World Tour is set to feature five different locations. So there are still two regions that Sega hasn’t teased yet.
Since it’s a World Tour, I could imagine Sydney, for example, as one of the remaining locations. But that’s just speculation on my part. It’ll be exciting to see what Sega comes up with for the last two maps and where Axel’s journey will take him next.
The Japan map really stands out among the locations shown so far, and I can easily imagine that Sega will be able to capture the vibe of Japanese streets in Crazy Taxi: World Tour—just as they did with the Germany map. In my opinion, the mix of big-city life, famous landmarks, and more traditional neighborhoods in particular could be a great fit for Crazy Taxi. Crazy Taxi: World Tour is set to be released in 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
