Rockfish Games is wrapping up work on the space shooter. The new patch delivers bug fixes, improved UI readability, and performance boosts for consoles.
Rockfish Games has released one last major update for Everspace 2.
This brings the eight-year project to a close. To wrap things up, the game receives Steam Deck verification, optimizations, bug fixes requested by the community, and minor new features for all versions.
“This technical update brings our eight-year journey with Everspace 2 to a close,” says Michael Schade, CEO and co-founder of Rockfish Games. “Our vision of an open-world spaceship action RPG was born more than a decade ago when we founded our studio and was realized in this ambitious project. It’s been an exciting journey, and we’d like to thank all the space fans who have joined us along the way. We’d also like to thank all Everspace 2 players who enjoyed our game, left a review, shared the demo, and encouraged us to keep going.”
Steam Deck Verified and Console Optimizations: Here’s What’s in the Patch
With this update, the other versions also receive usability improvements featuring functions developed for the recently released Switch 2 port, which now benefit all platforms. Performance on the Xbox Series S is expected to benefit particularly from these changes. UI updates developed specifically for the Nintendo console’s handheld mode now also optimize readability on the Valve handheld and help the game achieve “Steam Deck Verified” status.
Looking to the Future: New Project Receives Record Funding
“The team here at Rockfish is once again looking toward the future. Aside from possible hotfixes and a few console-specific changes, this will be the last update for Everspace 2,” adds Schade. “We’re far from done telling stories in the Everspace universe or developing great, action-packed space adventures. It will still be a while before we can reveal anything about our new game. Nevertheless, I can’t wait to show our community of space pilots the incredibly exciting things we’re working on.”
Meanwhile, the studio has received arecord grant from the federal government for the next Everspace project.
