“That didn’t go as planned,” says the studio. “That looks awesome,” say fans.
Back in 2022, EA had announced a new Iron Man single-player game in development at Motive Studios. Since then, things had gone suspiciously quiet around the Marvel game—until now.
A leak brought previously unseen scenes—apparently the prototype for a reveal trailer—from Iron Man onto the web, and the clip spread like wildfire.
But instead of going silent—as is often the norm in the industry after such incidents—the developers launched a surprising offensive.
How is the studio responding?
Just hours after the leak went online, the game’s official social media account posted a statement:
Well, that didn’t exactly go as planned. But now you know. And we’ve got a lot more to show you. See you when we’re ready.
The post reached around 18 million views and more than 230,000 likes in just one weekend.

What do the fans say?
Reactions range from enthusiasm for the scenes themselves to respect for the open and transparent communication, and relief that the show wasn’t canceled after such a long hiatus.
Here are some of thereactions from the community:
Motive must have been so damn relieved when their trailer leaked, but the community loved it right away and is now cheering them on.
Are you using the leak to give yourselves a boost and as free marketing? Major respect—that’s a boss move.
Just take your time and let it simmer. The leak just got us even more hyped.
Well-known brands like Walmart, Xbox, and other companies also reacted with Tony Stark memes and showered the studio with encouragement.
What does the leak show?
If you absolutely don’t want to know anything about the new Iron Man, you can just stop reading here. Here are some of the highlights and special features from the trailer:
- The sense of speed while flying in the Iron Man suit is impressive and conveys real momentum and a seamless transition between aerial and ground combat.
- The fights seem to pack quite a punch when Iron Man brutally hurls his opponents into walls. There are gadgets and a reasonably large arsenal of weapons (lasers, missiles, etc.).
- The suit can apparently be modified and customized depending on the situation and task, which could indicate different playstyles and a high degree of flexibility.
- The game world conveys a good sense of openness and freedom with plenty of room to maneuver (it’s still unclear whether it’s an open world).
- There’s a reunion with some Marvel characters and locations from the comics and movies. Among other things, S.H.I.E.L.D.’s massive Helicarrier makes an appearance.
In any case, EA’s official response to the leak seems to have really fueled the hype. Are you looking forward to a single-player action game featuring Iron Man? Let us know in the comments!
