Opening Night Live offered some fresh news for open-world fans: With the Enhanced version, Pearl Abyss is giving Crimson Desert a major story upgrade and German voice acting.
A surprise at gamescom Opening Night Live: Developer Pearl Abyss has officially unveiled Crimson Desert Enhanced.
Behind this name lies not an expensive re-release, but the extensive Patch 2.0 upgrade, which enhances the open-world action-adventure in several ways –and is now available completely free of charge to all existing owners.
More story, new cutscenes, and German voice acting
The trailer shown during Geoff Keighley’s opening show focuses primarily on the narrative improvements in the update. Pearl Abyss is adding fresh cutscenes and expanded dialogue to the adventure on the continent of Pywel, which are intended to noticeably deepen the flow of the story and key character moments.
Probably the best news for local players: With Crimson Desert Enhanced, Pearl Abyss is finally delivering full voice acting in five additional languages—including French, Spanish, Japanese, Brazilian Portuguese, anda complete German dub.
To coincide with the announcement of the Enhanced version, Crimson Desert is going on sale simultaneously across all platforms for the very first time. Starting now and through September 9, 2026, you’ll save 20 percent off the regular price on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Steam, the Epic Games Store, and Mac.
If you’re attending Gamescom in person in Cologne, you can also try out the new features firsthand: In cooperation with Samsung, Pearl Abyss will be offering its own hands-on stations in Hall 9.1 (Booth B020–C029) from August 26 to 30.
Have you already completed Crimson Desert and will you be returning to Pywel for the new story scenes, or is the German voiceover exactly the reason you’ve been waiting to buy the game? We know that many of you place great value on a German voiceover. Feel free to let us know in the comments!
