Marvel brawlers are finally back: MARVEL Tōkon leads a jam-packed release week featuring an action RPG, a looter shooter, and a tactical RPG.
It’s been 15 years since the last true Marvel fighting game. This time, Arc System Works—the team behind the outstanding Guilty Gear Strive and Dragon Ball FighterZ—is at the helm. The open beta recently showed that people are excited: Over 33,000 players were online simultaneously on Steam—more than any fighting game beta before it.
There’s more going on than ever before: Game Freak is venturing into an action RPG without Pokémon for the first time, Ubisoft is bringing a new *Division* game to PC, a tactical RPG transports you to Japan around 1600—and in a simulator, you get to operate a massive cannon.

The highlight of the week: MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls
Genre: Beat ’em up – Developer: Arc System Works – Release: August 6, 2026 (Steam)
In Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, you assemble a team of four Marvel characters, switch between them in the middle of battle, and build massive combos that go far beyond what a single character could achieve. There are 20 fighters available at launch, ranging from Storm and Wolverine to Iron Man and Captain America, all the way to Doctor Doom and Ghost Rider.
Anyone who’s played Dragon Ball FighterZ will feel right at home here—especially when it comes to the fast-paced action compared to Tekken and Street Fighter. There’s no shortage of modes: Story, Arcade, local and online duels, Ranked, a tutorial for beginners, and lobbies for up to 64 players.
For PC players, there are two things you should know before buying:First, the online mode requires a PSN account—even on Steam. This caused plenty of frustration back in 2024 with Helldivers 2 and has led to the game not even being listed in over 130 countries. (Germany isn’t one of them, so you can breathe a sigh of relief.) Second, the anti-cheat system in the open beta still blocked SteamOS—the game simply wouldn’t run on the Steam Deck.
On the plus side, it features Rollback netcode—which is more important in a brawler than almost anything else—as well as full cross-play between PC and PS5. However, there were still reports of lag during the beta. The developers have announced improvements for launch.

- Anomaly President (Early Access): Campaigning by day, monster hunting by night—Anomaly President combines two things that don’t really have anything to do with each other and turns them into a side-scrolling roguelite. You travel across the country in a customizable campaign bus serving as your mobile base, collecting votes and then battling your way through boss fights against vice presidents, whose Anomaly powers you can then use yourself.
- Flow Of War: If you like real-time strategy but are tired of micromanagement, this game offers a good compromise: Resources are collected automatically, armies fight on their own, and you focus on base layout, troop combinations, and spells. The game features 30 campaign missions, endless procedural maps, and a map editor—all created by a single developer. A free demo is already available.

- Beast of Reincarnation: Game Freak, the studio behind Pokémon for decades, is trying its hand at a major action RPG for the first time. You play as a girl named Emma in Japan in the year 4026, accompanied by her wolfhound Koo, and battle machines and rampant plant life. Instead of an open world, there are several open regions and about 30 to 40 hours of gameplay. The title is available on Game Pass Ultimate from Day 1—so subscribers can check it out at no extra cost.
- Big Walk:The creators of Untitled Goose Game are back—this time without a goose, but with Friendslop for up to twelve players. You’ll hike together through a vast Australian bush landscape and solve puzzles that can only be cracked by working together. Cross-play with PS5 and Switch 2 is supported. A game that stands or falls with the people you play it with.
- Korea. IL-2 Series: Despite the name, this isn’t an add-on for IL-2 Sturmovik, but a standalone flight simulator built on a new engine. 1C Game Studios transports you to the Korean War of the early 1950s—a transitional period when propeller-driven aircraft and the first jet fighters fought side by side in the skies. The map spans over 200,000 square kilometers, plus a career mode, mission planner, and full VR support.
- Liquidation (Early Access):For anyone who’s never really gotten over Warcraft 3: Liquidation is a classic real-time strategy game featuring base building, three factions, and a hero and mercenary system. Early Access launches with the first six campaign missions and a handful of skirmish maps; the full version is expected to expand to 32 missions.

- The Division Resurgence: Ubisoft’s looter-shooter, originally announced as a mobile spin-off, is now launching for free on Steam. You’ll return to New York as an agent, blasting your way through the plague-ridden metropolis solo or in a team of four, and fine-tuning builds and specializations as usual, including the Dark Zone and the PvP mode Conflict. Cross-play and cross-progression with the mobile versions are included, and the Steam launch coincides with the start of Season 2. The game is funded through cosmetics and the Battle Pass.
- Akatori: As Mako, a young nun, you’ll race through this Metroidvania with wall jumps, dashes, and gliding maneuvers, while a sealed firebird resides within your battle staff.
- Kill The Shadow:If you’d rather investigate than fight, you should check out this detective thriller. As Lucas, a former police officer, you’ll solve plenty of strange cases, aided by a shadowy entity that lets you access memories, reconstruct crime scenes, and turn back time. Whether you solve cases through conversation, bribery, or brute force is up to you—and there are multiple endings accordingly.

- IRON NEST: Heavy Turret Simulator:This is the secret star of the week. You operate a gigantic dieselpunk turret, calculate firing solutions, select ammunition types, and process targeting instructions that come in via teletype—that’s the full scope of your duties, and that’s all it takes. The demo was one of the most talked-about games at Steam Next Fest in June, and the whole thing was built by a team of just two people. If you want to pass the time while waiting forPVKKshould check this out.
- ReStory: Chill Electronics Repairs:If you like things cozy, open a small electronics shop in Akihabara and tinker your way through the technology of the mid-2000s, including officially licensed Atari consoles. Amid soldering irons and conversations with customers, a branching story with multiple endings unfolds.
- Sovereign Tower:You rule a magical tower, recruit a host of eccentric knights, assign tasks, and try to keep their egos somewhat in check. The demo has received an overwhelmingly positive 97 percent rating.
- Approximately Up:You’ll build modular spaceships from thousands of components and then fly them from a first-person perspective. Around 15 planets with their own gravity and atmospheres await; delivery missions unlock new components, and up to four people can team up in co-op mode.
- Rancher: A New Life (Early Access):Tending to cattle, repairing fences, growing vegetables, fishing, cooking, and zooming across your own ranch on a ATV—the concept is familiar, and so is the target audience. Early Access starts on Thursday; a closed beta was already held at the end of July. If you want to know if this is your kind of game, play the demo first.

- GRAIN ROT:You are a wooden robot. Take the elevator down into procedurally generated ruins, loot whatever you can carry, and try to escape in time before the monsters catch you. An outpost awaits you at the top, which you’ll expand with your loot.
- Expeditions: Samurai (Early Access): This tactical game transports you to Japan around 1600. As Captain Flynn, you lead a squad through conflicts that can be resolved through diplomacy, stealth, or combat. Eight companions each bring their own quest lines. Early Access begins with the first act and about eight hours of gameplay; the full version, featuring four acts, is scheduled for early 2027.
- Chop Chop Inc.:Here, you’ll build a furniture empire: chop down trees, saw planks, build furniture, sell it in the city, and unlock new regions and automation. The game was developed by NullRef Entertainment, known for Endzone, and will be published by the Darmstadt-based publisher rokaplay.
- Frozen Ship (Early Access):Frostpunk on Skates: You command a massive ship with a crew of twenty through a frozen wasteland, manage diseases, fears, and matters of faith on board, and gradually expand the vessel into a floating city. Research, laws, and factions also play a role. Early Access is expected to last one to two years.
