The players were faster: A planned treasure hunt in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced has fallen through because the valuable loot was found without any clues at all.

Assassin’s Creed had actually planned a surprise for its loyal community, but ended up seriously underestimating them. Apparently, there are still plenty of true pro pirates left over from the originalAssassin’s Creed: Black Flag. That’s because a planned treasure hunt in the remakeResyncedis now being called off early,because someone has already located and bagged the valuable loot—without a treasure map at all. Ubisoft is taking it in stride.

The treasure hunt is over before it began

The official Assassin’s Creed account shared a repost yesterday, enthusiastically reporting on the surprising discovery:

In a video clip, SynthPotato shows where the player stumbled upon a completely unmarked crate in the ocean without any help,from which he then fished out the Explorer outfit. This should make many people especially happy, since the outfit was originally in the game but didn’t seem to make it into the remake.

Now it’s clear: It’s there after all! It was just meant to be a surprise. In the original Black Flag, you earned the outfit by completing in-game community challenges, which is why this addition actually fits perfectly into the story. Since so few people tackled the limited-time challenges back then and the outfit was no longer available afterward, it was considered very rare, and many were frustrated at having missed the chance.
