Path of Exile 2 is being much better received by many players with Patch 0.5; the revamped endgame, in particular, is getting a lot of praise on Reddit.
Path of Exile 2 has taken a noticeable step forward with Update 0.5.0, “Return of the Ancients”: Not because everything is suddenly finished, but because Grinding Gear Games is addressing the very area where many players have felt the most friction since Early Access: the endgame.
What’s in Update 0.5?
The update is a major overhaul of the endgame: Breach and Delirium have been revamped, receiving new storylines, dedicated hub areas on the Atlas, and redesigned Atlas passive trees. Delirium now more clearly indicates how deep you are in the Mist, while Breach features a progress bar and can transition into stabilized Breaches with new challenges.
In addition, there are two new Ascendancy classes: the Martial Artist for the Monk and the Spirit Walker for the Huntress. Furthermore, 0.5.0 introduces new Lineage Supports, numerous new Unique Items, build guide support, and a convenience feature that lets you use items directly for the Trade Search.
The campaign has also been tweaked:Act 3 has been adjusted in parts, the Waterways are supposed to be less annoying, and the monster density in the second half of the campaign has been reduced so you can get through it faster.
What players are really loving
The new endgame, in particular, is going over well. Many comments in the thread »0.5 is an absolute blast for the average player” and praise the fact that the time invested there now results in better progress:
- f_nafar:
The fact that there are objectives in the endgame makes it exciting to plan the few hours you have to play.
- No-Advice-6040:
I really like the feeling that every map makes you stronger.
- janrade:
I’ve done the Tower boss twice, for a whopping 80 Atlas Points, and now the content areas feel super rewarding.
- Ajp_iii:
You can feel every point in the maps, so you want to get more and keep playing.
- LimblessNick:
Valley of the Titans is so much better now. It actually makes sense now.
- FocusFlukeGyro:
The little portals that take you to the next destination instead of wandering around aimlessly? Yes, that’s a nice quality-of-life change.
- zunamie2:
I can’t wait to see what 1.0 looks like. I love 0.5.
How about you? Has the new patch got you back into the Path of Exile 2 fever, or would you rather wait until version 1.0 is released, likely at the end of 2026? Share your thoughts in the comments: What do you particularly like about 0.5, and where do you think Grinding Gear Games still needs to improve?
