A new sci-fi highlight was announced at Summer Game Fest; it looks absolutely fantastic and is coming directly to PC.
Summer Game Fest 2026 delivered a real visual treat: Developer Shift Up has officially announced a sequel to the 2024 action hitStellar Blade. The new adventure bears the dark title Stellar Blade Bloodrain and, in its first trailer, immediately brings back the stylish action that made its predecessor so popular.
But for many of you, the most exciting news might not be the game itself, but the platforms on which it will be released.
New Paths Without Sony
When the first Stellar Blade was released, Sony Interactive Entertainment served as the publisher. As a result, the game initially launched as a true PlayStation 5 exclusive and didn’t make its way to PC until over a year later.
For Stellar Blade Bloodrain, the South Korean development studio is now completely changing its strategy. Shift Up has established its own in-house publishing division and will handle the release of the sequel itself.
For you, this step is welcome news. Since the studio is no longer bound by Sony’s contractual exclusivity deals, Bloodrain will launch on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5.
A Long Road to Release
However, there is one catch to this great announcement: During the event, Shift Up made it clear that Stellar Blade Bloodrain is still in a very early stage of development. The debut trailer shown was intended merely as a sign of life and confirmation that work is in full swing.
As soon as there are first concrete gameplay scenes or a rough timeframe for the release, we will of course keep you updated. Until then, you’ll have plenty of time to perfect your combos in the predecessor once again.
