A YouTuber is playing Red Dead Redemption 2 at 4 FPS and takes twelve hours to get through the prologue. But there’s more to MongoTV than just a joke.

As you know, Red Dead Redemption 2 isn’t a short game. You’ll realize that at the latest when you’ve ever just wanted to quickly play a mission and, two hours later, you’re still sitting in front of the computer because another bounty hunt got in the way and you also wanted to quickly fill up the camp’s coffers.

For YouTuber MongoTV, there’s an entirely different challenge:In his videos, the game runs at a frame rate of around 4 FPS, so the prologue in the snow takes a whopping twelve hours. The term “gameplay” is therefore interpreted quite generously here.

Who is MongoTV?

MongoTVis, according to his channel description, John Olsen, a Dane born in 1966 who lives near Copenhagen. He describes himself as a YouTuber approaching 60 who has been uploading videos since 2014.

And he does so on a scale that goes far beyond a typical gaming channel. By his own account, he now hasmore than 65,000 videos. On his channel, you’ll find footage of daily life, travel, shopping, recipes, personal updates, and gaming content—some in Danish, some in English.

He only launched his RDR2 series in April 2026—since then, he has uploaded 1,460 videos about the game. You can see an example of his gameplay here

Fictional character or just a very unique YouTuber?

This is exactly where things get a bit tricky: Of course, one could easily dismiss MongoTV as a troll, especially with a username like that. But his channel suggests it’s more than just a short-term prank.

Olsen has been uploading videos for over ten years, documenting his daily life and discussing finances, debt, technical issues, and gaming. According to his channel description, comments have been disabled since 2024 to protect himself, his home, and the people in his videos.

That doesn’t sound like someone who invented a fictional character whose Red Dead Redemption 2 stutters in a particularly funny way. It’s impossible to say for sure from the outside just how consciously Olsen uses the absurdity of his videos.

Perhaps he realizes how unusual this seems. Perhaps it simply doesn’t matter much to him. The only thing that’s certain is that we’re seeing a person here who uses YouTube in a very unique way.
